Look to find how its fastened in place and what electrical connectors are hooked up to it and how they are fastened to the switch.disconnect the wire connector first noting how you removed it.then disconnect the switch from its mounting again noting how and what you did to remove it then re-install the new one in reverse order.this is all a tech does to do the same job.

It may not be the sensor, but a plastic button that presses against the sensor when you apply the brake. If the plastic button is missing, when you apply the brake it will not depress the trigger on the brake sensor.

Brake lights not working

Check fuse for brake lights first. If you have and are afamiliar with a test light test power through line. Fuse, light sockets and bulbs for power transfer to rear and then finally check the brake light swithch and if the brake light switch (on top of the brake pedal is good then look for a break in harness or wires going back to brake lights.

Stop lights do not work when brakes are applied on a Nizzan Sentra 2006. fuse is good. Both brake lights do not work.

If bulbs are good disconnect the stop light switch mounted on the brake pedal. Jump the connectors and see if the lights come on. If yes, bad switch. If no, check for power and ground at each wire.

Tail lights not working, changed fuse and both bulbs.

If they are not working, meaning when you step on your brake pedal, then it is your brake light switch.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the wiring connector at the switch.
  3. Remove the switch lock nut.
  4. Remove the switch.
  5. Install the switch and adjust it so the brake lights are not on unless the brake pedal is depressed.
It's located right behind the brake pedal.

My dash taillights dont work on my 1997 nissan

Turn on the hazard switch to check if the bulbs light up. If they do, the problem is probably with the headlight switch itself.
