That's a big issue, am in Nigeria, Africa no service center here. I forgot to tell u that the AC normal goes off when this temperature is this high. And within a distance of 30km i use 14litres of feul. Thank u for the adverse

Thanks. sorry for the late response.

I had the car scanned and the engine was OK, exhaust system has malfunctioned o2 front sensor on one(B2:S1) and no activity on the 2nd one(B1:S1). I found out that my Catalyst has been removed and i had a universal one now fixed on it. And, i also change the 2 sensors with a Toyota type because i couldn't get the exact match. My connections were OK, but my mpg seems higher (Average 22l/100km before ---- 30l/100km now) than what it use to be before i changed these devices. I don't know what am doing wrong.

After driving the car for sometime now, the AC problem seems not coming up so frequently. In fact is on rear case now.

Hi Counchcharles
Your service displays have to be reset with the correct electronic equipment....When you chage the engine oil the computer management system will have to be told...thats the job of the scanner....go to a service centre and have them cancel it for you.
The over heating problem is nothing to do with that though.....Check to see if you have any the pressure cap only when the engine is is first thing before start up in the morning....check to see if you need topping up....if you do, it'll mean you have a leakage....Check the entire radiator and hoses where they go from the rad into the engine and ventilation system for stains from the coolant....If you can't find any look at the thermostat....If you remove it, replace with anew unit, do not dis-guard it also check the pressure cap and if needs be replace....Good luck

  • Hi Councharles,

Have you tried using your car without using the AC., to find out if it still overheats?....

.....Do me the favour of taking your vehicle for a test drive.....

......Lets see what happens with the AC OFF at the beginning of the test....and then, if it stays at the correct temp after covering MORE than the usual distance, turn the AC on and lets see what happens....

.....We have to do some diagnostics and we need as much imfo as possible.....

Your fuel consumption seems to be a seperate problem, which we'll have to look into....Imformation is always important.... Is the vehicle smoking and if so, what color is the smoke?.....If there is smoke, is it dark grey, amost black, or is it a greyish blue?...Is it smoking all the time or only when the vehicle is pulling away....When did you last replace the air filter and the fuel filter....It's a very fine idea to replace the oil filter each time the oil is changed, which in our sort of conditions, is good every 5000 kl. Also the use of a good high quality multi grade oil is what your engine should operate with.

Let me know the answer to as many of these questions as possible.....We'll see what we can do, to sort out the problems

    Best regards

  • Hi Councharles,

97 audi A6 Quattro immobilized - just died in traffic - doesn't make a sound when you turn the key- all lights work so it's not battery. Starter replaced last year. Recent indicator light: brake light -...

A few things to note:
1. Just because the lights come on doesn't mean that there is enough power to start the car. It could still be a battery issue, or the alternator, but not likely from what you describe.

2. Have the OBD system scanned with a VAG-COM and see what errors show up. Most auto parts stores (like autozone) will scan it for free, or you can purchase one (it's a good investment) at for a couple hundred dollars.

2005 audi a4 quarto 2.0 turbo. radiator fan doesn't run. ac and heater are not affected. usually the fan kicks on or stays on for a while after shutting the engine off. I checked the fuse and it is ok....

The fan doesn't always run, only in certain situations when additional cooling is needed (high load, or in stopped traffic, or when you turn off the car). Is your engine overheating?

Rad fans stay on when ignition is off audi 100e

should turn off after time, because of the age im not sure if it has a rad fan switch on side of rad, if so its that, unplug and it will stop, replace it, bear in mind it can stay on for upto 3 minutes after a journey, you can increase the temp to stop this coming on so early.
if no rad switch on newer they suffer a bad etc, please note your colour when ordering.
