Where is the Transmission computer located?

  • Layne5 Nov 13, 2008

On my 2000 Town and Country I have the engine light on and I only have the P0700 code, it is also leaking trans fluid. as long as I keep the trans full it drives fine no problem, but it is leaking quite a bit of fluid. my trans shop is currently moving to a new spot so they are down for a month and I don't trust anyone else with my vehicle. I work as much as I can on my own vehicles is this something the do it your selfer can do? I have also ran into the problem that my Haynes manual does not tell anything about the transmission except how to check the fluid! any advise from anyone wpould be greatly appriciated.

Code P0700 means that there is a code in the trans controller. P0605 means there is an internal failure in the trans controller that can not be repaired. The only step in checking this code is replacing the trans controller. The controller is not the solenoid pack . Its the actual transmission computer.

SOURCE: Error Codes P0700 and P0605

0605 is for an Internal Control Module Read Only Memory (ROM) Error. This is typical of a malfunctioning computer. If the computer is bad, your retrieved codes are probably wrong anyway. May need to replace computer, drive, then see if if your check engine light returns.

I have a Chrysler 2001 LHS engine light came on, transmission not shifting with trouble code p0605?

Most Chrysler cars today have a transmission control module which is probably part of the vehicles ecm? If you can tow the vehicle to your nearest Chrysler dealer they have the equipment and better knowledge to do any repairs necessary and will save you a lot of time and headaches of diagnosing the problem! I wish you all the best in getting your problem solved?

What does codes p0700 and p0605 means on a 2001 pt cruiser

Both diagnostic troubhle codes (DTC's) mean the same thing. There are really no testing procedures listed but look at your connectors and wires. Now for the bad news...P0605 & P0700 means there is internal problem with your transmission control module and in 99 percent of the cases it means replacement of the TCM. They do need to be programed afted installation. 2 procedures need to be performed. One is called a pinion factor and the other is called a relearn or quick relearn procedure and they do require the proper diagnostic computer equipment. The TCM is located behind the splash guard on the front left (drivers side wheel. Once you remove the tire and splash guard it is mount to the frame rail and has a 60 pin connector plugged into it. Wish it was better news but hope this helps clearify what the codes mean....

Is this P0605 and P0700? If so read on.
P0605 - Control Module Fault
Possible causes- ECM/PCM Harness power supply circuit is open or shorted
- ECM/PCM Harness ground supply circuit is open or shorted
- ECM/PCM may be faulty
P0700 CHRYSLER - Transaxle Control System (TCM) Malfunction
Possible causes- Shorted or open circuit within transmission control module (TCM)
- Failure of transaxle control module
Tech notes Since the P0700 is just and informative code, check the TCM for more codes to resolve the problem

Can you tell me what the codes PO605 and PO700 are? PT Cruiser 2001

P0605-------- Internal control module read only memory (ROM) Error
Have the computor checked.
