Re: starts to loose power after car gets hot
Cherry red? is the car tuned? as in racing-tuned? Maybe is the catalyst that needs replacementdue to clogging, or the oxygen sensor not working properly, sending a richer mix of fuel than a lean one, causing overheating. Loss of power is because of the overheating. Check the engine temp, and fluids constantly and fix it ASAP. This behavior could lead to athermal exhaustion of the head, fouling fire in chambers, and bending valves, As I said, repair ASAP.

I have 99 pontiac grand am and is misfiring the is code p0300 I have already changed the spark plugs and the two coils including the ignition coil cover. The car shacks when you turn it on and it smells like gas from the muffler. Also after a while the cadillac converter turns red from it heating up. Can some help me out?
Check and make sure your distributor cap and rotor are not corroded and gunked up. If a spark plug is ever dropped, the center electrode could be cracked leading to a improperly firing spark plug (causing a misfire). parts get dropped during shipping all the time.
