Changing the air conditioning belt on a 1997 Honda crv

Depending upon the authority of the person who told you the belt needs replacement, it may or may not be true. If your '97 CR-V is running with the original belt, it is way past replacement time.

How do I replace a serpentine belt bypassing the air conditioner ... I am not using the air conditioner pulley at all.

Odds are you can't. The ac compressor is mounted in the belt routing so it would need the pulley to keep the belt tight.
You can get a used compressor from a salvage yard and mount it in place of your old part if necessary. It will allow the belt to run even if it has no freon in the system.
There are a few vehicles that a replacement dummy pulley was designed for, but I am not aware of one for your vehicle. Usually if you try to run the belt without the compressor pulley, it will rub against something or not allow the belt to run in the right direction.

One of the three drive belts on my 1986 corolla (4a-c engine) is frayed and needs replacing. The belt loops around the idler pulley, air conditioner? and crank. Can I just cut this belt out and not use...

to replace the belt you need to see what size socket the tensioner has on the inside. with a ratchet attached put the socket on the inside bolt and push in the rotation to move the spring down taking the tension off of the belt. Pull the belt off and be sure to replace it with one of the same lenght. to install the belt, push the tensioner down and pull the belt over it. the tensioner will adjust itself to the correct tension.

No Scan

I have Automotive Software Repair on MY PC.

OK.. For the comunication with the scanner.
it can be a FUSE.
Please check all the fuses. If you have the manual SEE the specification for each one.
But the MOre IMPORTANT is . the fuse for the CIG Lighter. DOME light. And Radio. The scanner need a 12v. power from one of them. I will see My diagram to see exactly. which one is.
OK.. The fuse is: # 06 10amp. Behind right kick panel.

You have a 3.9 L. V8.
Let me ask you a few questions.
The problem start after you put a fuel on you car.
You have cleaned with water or any other staff the engine.
The Air filter is in good condittion.

OK. It just happen after you put Fuel.
I need to you go under the car. and remove the fuel filter
See the condition of the fuel, because it's can be the problem.
When the water goes down. the car run good. baut with the movement the fuel and water come mix. causing missfiring.
If you found water . DON"T put WATER remover. Try to drop the fuel or burn. You can put a high OCTANE. it will reduce the missfiring.

But if the problem is not fuel.
Check the condittion of the MASS sensor connector. .
Coolant sensor. TPS sensor. for any dirty or corroded condition.

But IF you have cleaned the engine.
You will need remove the ignition coils. and see if there Water inner. if you found blower up. all of them.

I hope this help on something..

if you found the fuse blow out replace. and try to scann again.
and letme know.

I will answear as soon as I can.
