This bar is called a sway bar and it controls body roll when cornering. You can go to your local auto parts store and you can get a kit that replaces the end links. This consists of a long bolt several bushings and washers and a nut and will be for both sides. The kit should have a diagram in the box. Should be inexpensive and easy to do. Hope this helps.

What is the bar that holds the tire called a stabilizer bar or a control axle?

More info.? Front tires or rear? Front tires are bolted onto a hub which connects thru the spindle into a constant velocity joint(CV joint) and goes into the tr-an-smission on a front wheel drive like you have.
Rear tires are mounted to an axle, which can be independent suspension or an axle which reaches from the left tire to the right tire.

Steering problem. It seems loose and allows the van to drift

check the sway bar links. the sway bar is the long solid bar that goes to each tire up front. the links are what connects the bar to the lower control arm. this is what controls the vehicle from swaying or drifting

The airbag light came on and stayed on for no reason.

I have the same issue (which comes and goes often).
It is caused by a loose wire connection, used for the drivers side airbag located in the seat.. The connector for mine is located under the front drivers seat. There are a couple of connectors that are connected to a bar under the front of the seat. I don't recall which one is used for the Airbag sensor.
