i have 1995 GT Legacy shows fault code 66. Occasionally will go into boost range but commonly engine cuts on accelleration and gets driven on LIMP MODE ,was told to check/replace turbo and vacuum intake leaks possible. So swapped a new BOV in the primary now its heard working for the first time . suspect other side is dodgy still. IS it possible that it has a shagged Turbo and still sporadically boost like 300 H.P. is under the hood.? 2) there is a lot of turbo noise.Whistling/whine.not overly loud.

starts cold, runs well, shut off after driving, won't start. Sit 20 to 30 minutes, starts up.

Ended up being the fuel pump and the knock sensor

I have the same problem. It was the camshaft sensor. After replacing the problem was solved. A malfunctioned crank sensor can give the same problem

How do i locate the knock sensor in a 1996 subaru gtb wagon engine

It is underneath the intake manifold. If you look straight down from the throttle body, you will see a sensor with one wire coming out and a bolt going through the middle of it, that is the knock sensor.

Have you put the OBD scanner on it to find the problem. That would be a good place to start. the computer should have stored a code with the problem.

Clutch replacement details for 1996 legacy GTB

Trust me it is quite an excercise and not worth doing yourself. With the proper tools, a hoist and a my mate who is a Guru Subaru Mech it took 4 hours. Without having done it before and without the Hoist ( which is wha I was going to do initially ) I'd say you wouldn't get much change out of 8 - 12 hours.

1996 Subaru Legacy No Power At All

Last night I checked the battery and it was still good. I disconnected and then reconn ected both terminals and that brought the power back. When I turned the key the power went out again. I repeated the procedure but did not turn the key. Instead, I took off the knee bolster and tried to wiggle the wires under the dash to see if I could find the source since it seems to be related to the ignition. Nothing cut the power so I started it up and it worked fine except for the check engine light which was flashing that says I have a misfire condition. I drove the car 25 miles to work this morning and will be taking it to the dealer for a better inspection.
