When the car is started the cluster is lit like normal when you ingage into drive and start driving every dumby light comes on and the tacometer and the coolant temp gauge dont work but the speedometer and fuel gaue are still finction ive never heard of this before any suggestions???
Make sure the secondary groundwire between the bottom of the battery tray and a ground point (The transmission housing) is in place. I replaced my negative battery cable and didn't replace this wire. This will cause these problems
I've got the same problem except my car stopped running... i thinks its a corroded wire somewhere in the harness... but i dont know for sure mines been sitting in my driveway while i try to figure out why it wont start

Sure it is not getting any fuel? Then that is the problem. Check out fuel delivery system and components such as fuel pump, filter, injectors being fired, etc.
If the Vat system was activated the car would start but then almost right away after wards shut the engine down. But if you have had the battery disconnected you might just want to check out resetting it for "in case."
No Cluster Buss Message is codeP1687. May be a cluster problem obviously but appears other things can cause it also. With price of a new or used cluster I would try a few things like pushing diagnostic button on dash, and let it go through the steps, as well as a battery disconnect for a few minutes then reconnect, just to see if you get lucky. if not, make sure you get assurance that whatever the repair shop says is wrong, if it doesn't cure the problem, you don't pay. Sounds like a lot of misdiagnosing being done on this . Sign up on the Dodge Truck forum, for more input. Good Luck
IF THIS CODE IS NOBUS THEN I BELIEVE IT IS A COMMUNICATIONS PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTER. CHECK THE FUSES FIRST. ESPECIALLY THE ONE FOR THE PCM(COMPUTER). ALSO CHECK THE CONNECTIONS ON THE PCM WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FIREWALL AND HAS A BAJILLION WIRES COMING FROM IT. IT HAS THREE CONNECTORS THAT ARE HELD IN PLACE BY THREE BOLTS ON THE BACK OF THE COMPUTER. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. PLEASE LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK
