there is no wing nut to take off.

There IS no plastic wingnut other than the first two big ones. pulling back on the metal housing doesn't budge. pulling plastic housing from outside doesn't come out. Anyone else have an idea? I see no other screws to remove.

If it's a Malibu Maxx, there will be no wingnut to take off. Just unscrew the the two screws you can see (and that the book tells you) and pull back. The entire piece comes out - so be prepared for that.

Mine stuck a little on the bottom but after wiggling a bit - I grabbed the part that the screws came out of and it came out REALLY easy. It's the middle bulb. When done - just put it back in place and line the screws up.

This is the first time that I've ever had to remove the entire piece like you have to do on the Maxx - but once you get past that and the worry about breaking it - you'll be fine.

on my 2005 lsve after I removed the wing nuts that were under the trunk liner (see previouse guest post for instructions) i pulled the light assembly off. you have to make sure that the screw post threads are not catching in the holes that they are pushed through. the holes are not very big and you may have to play with it a little bit but is should pull strait out paralel to the ground.

If your car has netting on the sides - the black nut that holds the netting unscrews (this is the wing nut)

I can not figure out how to get into the rear light bulbs (Stop light, etc). The manual says to remove two (phillips) screws to disengage the housing from the body. There's even a a picture. However, on...

To access the rear lights, you access them from inside the trunk. Pull down the carpet at rear of trunk near latch. There should be the screws the manual is referring to. Once you locate and remove all screws, gently pull the light assembly away from body. Replace the needed bulbs then gently push assembly against the body, replace the screws and set carpet back in place.

Replace turn signal bulb

The procedure to replace the REAR turn signal light bulb is as follows:- 1) There are three wing nuts on the inside of the trunk for each tail light. 2) Remove the piece of plastic just inside the trunk where the latch is. 3)Then remove the two thumb screws that the cargo net is attached to and the piece can be pulled up. 4)Them pull the carpeting away from the area where the tail light is located. 5)properly remove the three thumb screws. 6) Keep the bulb handy so you can fit the new bulb as the old bulb is removed out. The procedure to replace the FRONT turn signal is as follows:-- 1) First remove the front headlight assembly. And the bulbs . 2) Open the hood to remove the headlight assembly. 3) Pull the headlamp assembly straight out from the vehicle (moving the headlamp up and down slightly may help to remove it easily). 4) Front turn signal is located below the headlamp assembly (turn/parking lamp on top and the fog lamp is below it). 5) Then turn the bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise to remove it from assembly. 6)Then pull the old bulb from the socket and replace it with a new one. Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
