My 2001 Ford Focus had the oil changed by an idiot who did something besides change the oil. It ran perfectly prior to the "oil change". It was missing, and exhaust smell was almost overwhelming.I brought it back and when he lifted the hood there was water on top of where the spark plugs go in. He put new spark plugs in it. I started it this morning to let it warm up, it was running so rough and not idling smoothly at all. When I put it in gear, it died and now won't even turn over. I would like a diagram of where the plug wires go and your advice.

my guess
oil changer
spilt the oil filling the motor up and it ran on to the exhaust
if rocker cover gasket isnt leaking
oil smell will go away after engine gets up to temp

degreased the engine bay with something cheap
then hosed it down with a hose and water went everywhere

firing order for 4 cyl typical is 1342
the leads will be to length from dissy so its hard to mess up

water may have condensed under the dissy cap or coil plug wires arcing in the spark plug tubes

all needs to be dried out

a dry rag or metho not wd 40

car should run ok after the engine bay is dry

Check the idle air control valve. This sounds like it is not working right. it controls how much air the engine gets when it is idling. the pcm tells it to open more or close. they get old and dont respond fast enuf.

Good luck
