I blew a fuse while trying to install an aftermarket radio. It was only the fuse in the radio itself - as far as I can tell - but now the interior lights don't work (either on the dash or in the cabin). I also can't get the original radio to work. What could this be?

Check the B/alarm fuse in the engine compartment fuse block.

Aftermarket stereo won t power on

you blew the fuse
check the fuses to radio, can be 2 or more.
1 in fuse box.
2 in radio, (some have 1 , and others have 2 or 3 more in side radio)
anything is possible with aftermarket, radios, 10,000 models, vast years. Ive repaired many. (ET)

the radio has a red wire, usually for power,
most radios have 3 power wires,
1 for rad ( this one dead) use a volt meter here.12v key on.
1 for dial
2 for memory

Car radio, power locks, interior lights do not work. Headlights will only come on if car is started. Everything worked fine until aftermarket cd player installation was attempted. RCA jack looking thing...

You folks never learn, you can't use just any aftermarket sound system in these newer vehicles. The electronics are all networked together. I have no idea what you have damaged.

Plugged phone charger into cigarette lighter and radio power blew out?

It sounds like you blew a fuse. Check those in the interior fuse box (left kick panel, below the dash--fuse chart on the cover) and those in the engine compartment fuse box (far upper left as you face the car. Chart on cover). The fuse for your radio and perhaps for your lighter (combined) is probably in your kick-panel box.
Hope this is of some help.

1993 mercury cougar radio blows when insalled pleeeeze help

Some vehicles will not support aftermarket radios. The original radio wiring supports some functions of the vehicle, example being an alarm, interior lights, etc. It is possible one of the circuits has a blown fuse, and the radio is not compatible with your car.
