I own a 2007 dodge ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi and automatic transmission, my auto 4x4 stays on and wont switch back to 2 wheel drive or 4x4 lock. ive only owned the truck for 2 weeks and its happened each time i try the 4x4, is this a bad buy or is there a solution for this problem

It isn't specified. There is more than one fuse that covers transmission. You would need an auto electrician or a transmission expert to connect a pro grade scan tool computer and diagnose if the switch or solenoid is faulty. A scan tool at this level is bi-directional and can command solenoids to operate and confirm that they do.

Traditionally, it is located on the transmission body. Metal clad with two pin or wires. it works like a pushbutton switch.
However, new cars do not have that anymore especially auto or CVT trannys. Instead the switch is incorporated in the "gear position switch" assembly. Some are located on the transmission, some are located and the gear lever. This switch also help to show the driver and the transmission control unit what position the gear lever is at.

Just a guess here Joe but I would suspect your green light is telling you the Four Wheel Drive is engaged. Check your owners manual for further confirmation.

I am shocked that the dealer cant fix it, even after warranty. But it sounds like a switch/sensor on the transfer case, or the 4x4 is engaged, and the computer hasnt relayed it to your dash. Can you feel the 4x4 engage? You should be able to.

From the information that i have been able to gather your maximum towing capacity is 85-8900lbs. You should always check your owners manual or with the manufacturer for towing capacities.
