My brake light on my truck have been burning bulbs like crazy and now they don't work at all. Is there anything I can check to find out what's causing this to continue to do such?

Ive removed all wires from undercarriage and checked for breaks or grounding curcuits, Removed my entire dash aswell as fuse block.

Ive isolated the Yellow wire from the brake switch and removed the connection by splicing it, and turned on my flashers and it works fine and dandy, Once i reinstall the yellow wire activate the flashers , Wulah same problem arises.

I am waiting for a new Brake switch for under the dash and ss if it helps will post details once work completed.

What would make the brake lights stops working when the Headlights turn on

The brake light bulbs could be at fault....They are designed to work with the brake pedal and the night running lights....The bulbs work as a two way light....This means they have 2 small wires inside the bulb...Some bulbs only have one wire but they only serve one purpose...In cases like that the bulbs are at fault normally or you have a bad wiring issue ...,there is also a brake light switch connected to the brake pedal but if your brake lights work it should be ok..but don't rule it out...anything is possible with older vehicles...Only one wire inside the bulb can burn out and cause one light not to work but the other light will work because the bulb still has one of the wires connected inside...One 1157 bulb works 2 lights,,,the brake light and the running light....It is common for them to blow only half way leaving the other light working ....Look at the difference between a 1156 bulb and a 1157 bulb and you will see what I am trying to describe..An 1156 is for only a one way light because it only has one wire....look at the difference between the two.....If you have never replaced them change them anyway...Sometimes you can't tell when they are blown....Normally the bulbs cause the problem you are having....Thanks

Brake lights don't work

First thing to check is the simple things. Be sure the bulbs aren't burned out, then check to be sure the fuse isn't blown. Let me know if that helps.

How do i fix the brake lights on my mercury sable. all the other lights work fine

Does your car have the `lamp out'indicator system? It's more complicated.
My manual shows fuse #28 , a 15 amp fuse powers the brake bulbs. Is this the one you changed?
A bulb can be out for a long time and you don't notice it,then the other burns out and you think they both went out at the same time, but they might not have, see?
So check the bulbs and make sure you got that brake switch installed correctly. don-ohio (:^)

Need to change brake light bulbs on Peugeot 107 is this easy

If both are not working that is a sign that you have some other problem and not burned out filament's in the bulbs bulbs. Try turning on the four way flashers and then off again a few times do the rear lights flash? if so the bulbs are ok. If the brake light still don't work check the bulb socket with a DC volt meter while the rake lights are help on by a helper, if you have voltage then likely the bulbs are the problem. If you still think the bulbs are the problem the way to change them is outlined in the owners manual with diagram's which I do not have.

Brake lights don't work. Bulbs, fuses and brake light switch all okay. Center brake light works and the running lighs work.

Filaments on actual bulbs might be burned out, pull the socket out from the back of the tailights and do a visual check on the bulbs, replace if needed...

I have a 99 gmc yukon my break lights stop working i changed the break switch checked the fuses and bulbs

These have the circuit board which the bulbs plug into. Very common problem for the circuit board to burn up interally and cause the brake bulbs to not work.

If there is no voltage at the brake light bulb socket, check the brake pedal switch.

Lamp out alarm keeps sounding

probably one of the tabs on a light bulb heated up and melted, causes contact to be lost.just remove lights and check each bulb for oblivious melting and bend contact out, away from plastic on the bulb to get a better contact on the inside of the socket. happened too me in the rear tailights.

Brake lights and rear running lights don't work

good one, love these kinds of failures.
are you in the salt belt (wiki that)
dont buy no name lamps, (from china)
they make a bad product, cheap and poor.
also check alternator voltage 15vdc max, if more lamps can burn out.
only 3 causes, voltage, junk from china, or wild crazy vibration.
id say its not that last one, no?
we shot huge guns in the Navy and blew lamps and fuses like mad.
So, know a thing or 2.

your lamps seem to be modified
some one put in the wrong lamps. easy to do sure.
wj jeeps.
brakes, not park not reverse not blinks only brakes right
not tails , tails means PARK.

most glove box operators guides tell you what to use.
ever read it?

or here, SM
chapter 8L
lamp 3157

go here click WJ
then click lamps
read page 5
