I have a 1999 Yukon Denali that has the same problem. Turn signals do not work at all. Emergency Lights work perfect. I get no blinking or clicking but turn signals are used inside or outside. Sounds like a broken directional switch inside the column. You have an airbag system. I strongly recommend you either get yourself a chiltons or haynes manual and follow dis assembly instructions EXACTLY or have a shop do the work for you. If airbag deploys while you are working on it it can and wll ruin your day in a big hurry. (trip to hospital)
Replace you turn signal flasher relay, it should be right by your fuse box or near the brake pedal.(it looks like a solenoid, a cylindrical shape, with 3 prongs on the end) it is attached to a wiring harness that you just have to unplug it from. i couldnt find mine at any auto parts store, had to go to jeep, costs 44 bucks. that should do it
