It is telling me to lock the doors with the key, this will arm the system, then you should be able to unlock the doors after about 3 seconds and this should disarm the system. Also, if it doesn''t try unlocking the passenger side door or the back glass with the key. Let me know you must wait at least 3 seconds before unlocking back glass or passenger door to disarm system once one door is unlocked without setting off alarm it is disabled. hope this helps
The only one you can reset is the "time for regular service" message.
To reset this, turn ignition off, hold the trip reset button down and turn key to position II. Keep holding the trip reset until you hear a ping noise and the orange triangle flashes. Immediately release the trip reset and turn the ignition off. When you start the car next, the message will be gone.
Other messages like "SRS Service required" or "Alarm system service required" can only be rest with a OBD code reader.
The 2003 Sonata is equipped with a 'starter KILL' burglar alarm system with disables the starting system (using a N/C 'contacts' configuration instead of a N/O contacts configuration). N/C=Normally closed, and N/O=Normally open contacts. When the alarm goes off with a MY Sonata, the only way to DISARM it is with the key fob (remote) originally programmed for it (unless you purchase a new remote & have it programmed for the vehicle at an authorized Hyundai Service Department). NOTE: So long as the keyless entry & burglar alarm system is functioning/operating normally, the alarm will keep going off and the STARTER KILL function will still prevent you from starting the vehicle. One option is left without purchasing a new remote and having it programmed. 1. When the alarm goes off, get into the vehicle and insert the ignition key into the ignition. 2. Turn the key to the 'RUN' position (NOT the ACC position) and wait for the alarm to STOP (usually about 3 to 5 minutes). 3. The engine should then start using the ignition key.
If this procedure doesn't work, the problem will need further diagnosis by a qualified/certified Hyundai Service Technician.
Important note: Proceed exactly as follows; otherwise the reset system will go into the locked position and special tools are required to unlock it (Tech 2 tester).
1. Turn the ignition OFF. 2. Press and hold the reset button (see the above picture). 3. After 3 seconds the "Distance till service" appears on the display, "InSP 0". 4. Press and hold the brake pedal. 5. Note: Ensure the button is still pressed. 6. Turn the ignition ON. 7. The display shows: "InSP----". 8. After turning the ignition ON, wait for the service message to change and keep the reset button pressed for at least 3 seconds. 9. Release the brake pedal and reset button at the same time. 10. Wait for 10 seconds, until the display shows: "InSP XX,000 km". 11. The system is reset.
1 . Insert key into ignition barrel. 2 . Press and hold the Reset switch
(located on the Trip Computer Switchpack). 3 . NOTE: The reset switch has to
be released immediately after the ignition is switched 'ON'. This is critical to
enable the rest of the procedure. Turn the key to Ignition position II and at
the point of entering Ignition position II (i.e when a click is heard),
instantaneously release the Reset switch. 4 . Wait one second. 5 . Press
and hold the Trip switch (located on the end of the left-hand side stalk). 6
. Wait one second. 7 . Press and hold the Reset switch (whilst still holding
the Trip switch). 8 . The cluster should display (within three seconds) the
warning message 'RESETTING SERVICE MODE'. 9 . Keep both buttons pressed until
the warning message changes to 'SERVICE MODE RESET' (after ten seconds). 10 .
Once the message is displayed the buttons may be released â€" sequence is now
complete. 11 . If a Service Required message was displayed prior to the reset
sequence, cycle the ignition to 'Off' and then back to Ignition position II and
check that the message is no longer displayed.
the key has magnet on it that may be weakening. It will have to be reprogrammed.
Insert the first valid key into the ignition switch and turn the
ignition switch ON for at least 3 seconds but no longer than 15
seconds. Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the first key.
Insert the second valid key and turn the ignition switch ON
within 15 seconds. After ten seconds a chime will sound and the Theft
Alarm Light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition switch OFF and
remove the second key.
Insert a new Key into the ignition switch and turn
the ignition switch ON within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds a single
chime will sound. The Theft Alarm Light will stop flashing, turn on for
3 seconds; then turn off. The new key has been programmed.
