Question about 1994 Mazda 626

1 Answer

Spark issues My 1994 mazda starts and runs fine until about 5 minutes after it reaches operating temp then it stops giving spark. I've replaced the distributor twice and it has a new cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. What else could it be?

The coil can develop an open when it gets warmed up. Try doing all the resistance checks on the coil when its cold and see if it passes. Run the engine till it fails and quickly check resistances again to see if open circuits exist. Otherwise, it sounds like a problem either in on-board computer or some other power module.

How can I fix a 96 jeep grand Cherokee with 4.0 has rough idle and is hesitant until it reaches operating temp. but sets no codes?

Check the condition of spark plugs, if dirty or oily could be the timing gear or timing, wouldn't show a code, if plugs are white suggests lack of fuel, also no code . ( injector cleaner and ethanol remover for the latter ). Repair shop for timing.

Once my 1999 jeep grand cherokee larado with 4.0 will not take gas and dies out at operating temp

Need to road test with scan tool on it & look at data

Need to confirm the temp issue & what your saying

Need to see fuel pressure & if correct, what it is at 200
when the issues start.

Maybe the egr comes in later & leans it out

Maybe it won't stay in closed loop & that is temp related for sure

Think you need to go for a road test, you drive & shop guy rides
with scanner, have to be part of the solution or they will sell you
spark plugs & call it a tune-up,remember they have been gone for
25 years

model with coil fitted check this as when they over heat they stop sparking. also the spark plugs and leads, up graded model with electronic timing check the dis pack and then the spark plugs and the leads, leads can check with meter, if hard or stiff leads replace them as this can mean they will crack with engine movement. check spark plug gap to your recommended speck for your engine code. coil should be replaced every 5 years or depending on your driving times these can very depending on coil fitted. dispak type if it has any cracks in the casing replace as water could of damage the internal coil.

88 bronco. runs fine untill it warms up then loses most power

Sound like an ignition issue. The hotter temps are causing a part to fail.If you've never replaced the ignition coil, this is the easiest place to start.Another possibilty would be the pickup in the distributor,or the reluctor on the distributor shaft.

Motor shuts down when reaching normal operation temp

Sounds like the mass air flow sensor or the air intake temperature sensor. Sometimes just wiping out the throttle body/air intake can make all the difference

If there is an Auto Zone around your area, have your Ignition control module (ICM) tested. It's common for the ICM to fail when they heat up causing the engine to stop running. The ICM is located under the rotor in the distributor, check the wire's and look for any corrosion or damaged wires to the ICM. The ICM is $40.00 and Auto Zone will have the step by step instruction for you to get the job done with common tools. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.
