Try looking at your brake light switch. My CRV did the same thing, and a new brake light switch later everything works!

2003 oldsmobile alero v6 -- cruise control stopped working...The cruise on/of button lights up, the green light cruise indicator comes on in the dash panel, but cruise control does not engage when CST SET...

Try checking the small switch at the top of the brake pedal. There may be two one for brake lights and one for the cruise control. To ascertain what is what, pull one wire off and see if brake lights work. If not, then the other switch controls the cruise control disconnect and engage..I you have a DC test light check to see if power is on on both side of the switch with brake pedal up. If so, depress pedal and check power on the other side there should be none, if there is the switch is defective.

Cruise control stopped working at about 70k. Enable light at switch comes on, but will not set a cruise speed (dash light will not turn on). I've not begun to inspect, but have read many problems about...

Check for a broken plastic piece under the hood on the throttle control. Top, Back right of the engine. Probably will see the cruse control cable sitting there disconnected.

Cruise control won't engage. Light goes on the switch when you press it but cannot set the speed, CRUISE won't light up on the dash.

Check the owners manual to locate the fuse diagram ,and find the fuse that controls the cruise control. Probably a blown fuse or bad diaphram.

2003 Ford Explorer Cruise Control

Check the speed control deactivation switch on the master cylinder. disconnect and use a jumper wire to connect the wires together. If the cruise works it's the switch.

Steering wheel lamps do not work (radio controls, temp, cruise)

The lights on the steering wheel are in the switches. To fix the lights, the whole switch needs to be replaced. Same thing goes for the Tempature Controls and radio. Overall, I think it would be very expensive to replace all of the switches to get the lights working. I have the same vehicle, and almost all of the lights are out.

I think the lights behind the gage controls are replaceable, although you still have to rip out most of the dash to get to them.

I have the auto-sense wipers, so I was leaving the wipers on all the time, and the would only work when needed. The bad part I finally found out about this was that while the wiper switch is on (even though they were not wiping), it caused all of the dash lights, switch lights and rear parking light to be on. I think this alone significantly cut down on the life of the bulb.

For now, I am just living without the lights. The temperature control is very expensive (just the part alone).

You can usually find the best price for these things at http://www.rockauto.com
