Do you have the 4.0 in line 6 cylinder engine? If you do, I believe the oil filter is located at the back of the engine, passenger side, and can be removed from above. You can pick up a oil filter wrench at the auto parts store when you buy your oil and filter. It may take a little manuevering to get the wrench on, but once it's loosened just a bit, you can take it off by hand. Once removed, clean off the area where the filter mounts with a clean rag, use your finger to coat the gasket of the new filter with clean oil, and install according to directions on filter, or filter box. Many parts stores and fast lube businesses will take your used oil and properly dispose of it (for free). Good Luck countrycurt0

Advice on Oil and filter change for a 2.7 disel Grand Cherokee

right use the cheapest diesel oil you can buy and change every 5000miles or theirabouts ,change oil filter every third oil change and the muck and carbon black deposits will not build up causing unnecessary wear on the engine ,Do not use so called long life oils and be dazzled by the publicity or some sales assistant in the auto factor who is on commision ,get the oil from a local supermarket or buy a box of the cheap stuff from a auto shop for a better price and trust me you will not go far wrong

When we turn our 2001 jeep grand cherokee, there is this low, almost grinding sound that appears. This is only when we are traveling at low speeds (below 10 mph). No one seems to know what is causing it....

Your Jeep has limited slip diffs. The last time you had it serviced,is probably when the problem started.Think.Was it?What the problem is,,the wrong diff oil was put in.At slow speeds, the plates in the diffs are shuddering. You can get some additive called friction modifier additive and in each diff you need 2 fluid ounces of the stuff.Or change all the diff oils..
Once the additive or new oil is in,,drive the vehicle in very tight slow turns for about 5 mins.A shopping centre carpark is good. This helps spread the oil throughout the diffs and should very well fix the problem.the additive is the cheaper way to go and does work.Hope this helps you

My oil pressure is dropping and at the same time my car is idleing to where it seems like my fuel pump is dying. Are the 2 related. If I step on the gas the oil pressure picks up and the my car gets gas...

Your oil pressure will increase and decrease with the speed of the engine. As long as your oil pressure increases, that's ok. The idle problem could be caused by a dirty fuel or air filter. I would start with replacing the fuel filter and check the condition of the air filter.

2001 Jeep Cherokee Classic shakes and sputters when recranked after driving. Only does it once it's been driven somewhere and ignition is killed, then recranked. Doing it about a week then check engine...

Sounds like a fuel/air problem. Replace fuel filter, check/replace air filter and spark plugs, complete the tuneup and see what happens. If it still happens then suspect injectors. Run cleaner through a tank of gas. If still the same take it to a shop that can plug into your vehicle and verify injectors performance.
