I would be willing to bet a spring in your clutch assembly has come out of the clutch and is just flopping around the clutch compartment

99dodge 2500 4wd 360 eng. transmission doesn't change correctly and 4 we does not engage at times.

Knocking sounds like lifter noise due to "dry start". Try using quality oil filters which have a anti-drain back valve, better quility oil. On trans issue, when did you last change trans fluid and filter?

What could be causing my transmission to knock while in reverse? Its a 1993 wrangler with a 5 speed manual.

when you say knock does it knock once or keep knocking as you back up i would check ujoints for play and check your trans mount its rubber andis glued to metal over time the come apart and then will allow trans to move and make noise if its not either of those two then could be in rear diff

I have a 99 mustang gt & I know it needs either a pilot bearing or throwout bearing, but it started making a knocking noise when the car reaches @ 2200 rpm & stops after I shift gears! Does not...

your description is not clear. the throwout and pilot bearing only work when the pedal is depressed. and dont make knocking noises, so rule that out. If the noise is when the car is moving and in gear, the trans maybe bad. makes noise in all gears at 2200 rpm? trans needs to come apart.

Lube Guard makes a friction modifier additive for transmission fluid that requires it. You can find it at major auto parts stores. Go to Lube Guard. com and check it out.

My discovery make a noise every time i change shif gear, any suggestions what can be wrong with? thank you.

sounds like a clutch release bearing, making noise...

is it a standard transmission ? if so the only way to fix it properly is pull the trans and replace it, while there depending on miles and use check to see if you should replace the clutch disc, pressure plate , crank shaft pilot bearing..etc all realted parts to a clutch job... not to over expensive, if you are capable you can by complete reman kits at major autoparts stores... please rate my help thanks...
