I have a 2000 Ford Escort and I noticed there was coolant leaking out of the bottom passenger side area. I took it into a repair place and the guy said it is a hose that runs from the radiator to the engine (rusted out). I had my boyfriend look into it and he was told that there are two hoses an upper and a lower hose. He purchased both and when he went to fix it he figured out that it wasn't coming from the hoses we had bought. I didn't think that this would have anything to do with the alternator but I thought it was weird that I just had my alternator replace last week and exactly a week later this happens. Any suggestions? Thank you.

check all your hoses run vehicle for awhile the inspect hose in this area. look for obvious things next check at the engine to see if a freeze plug is leaking then inspect you heater assembly the core may be leaking I'm leaning toward a hose or shut off valve
It sounds like you're looking at the heater core water lines. These connect to the heater core supply and return inlet and outlet pipes to bring hot coolant into the cabin for heat and windshield deicing.
The heater core is a mini radiator and operates on the exact same principles as the radiator does. The heater core is located behind the dash board on the passenger side. Look for a wet spot of antifreeze on the passenger side floor area - close to the firewall for an indication of a leaky heater core. If it is leaking, it will likely need to be replaced. This can be a pricey repair.
There are 2 service valves on this modl of escort, one located on the right hand side of the radiator as you face the engine and one located next to the accumulator by the firewall on the passengers side. The high pressuresde is the one to the right of the radiator, and the suction side is close to the accumulator on the passengers side. Put freon in the passenger side next to the accumulator. The high pressure side is strictly for checking the head pressure, do not try to put freon in that side. Look for around 40 psi on the low side .. There are more technical ways to do this but this will get you into the right area. If you don't have a guage, add freon until the fan clutch quits cycling at fast idle.
If you turn it into insurance this vehicle could be totaled out. Aribags are not cheap. You also have to replace the sensors and module, as they are NOT reusable. The passenger airbag could be part of the entire dash cover, Windshields I have seen as low as 120 installed. Theo., you could have 600-1000 tied up in doing it yourself. Fyi I hit a deer , did not hurt my winshield or airbags. Cost 2500 to repair.
