After speaking with a Toyota tech. I had the Idle Air Control Valve cleaned , as well as the fuel injection sys . cleaned by a local repair shop tech . May I also say the dealership wanted $180.00 to clean the Idle Air Control Valve only , I ended up paying $65.00 total . Thanks and have a great day . By the way , the Toyota Tech who advised me as how to fix the problem was from a Toyota Dealership , and he gave me the informmation for FREE.

Toyota Yaris auto stall after prolonged idle period - throttle body cleaned / air mass meter replaced / no codes. Any clues

When idling for long periods of time the spark plugs can get fouled, Soon as you step on the gas the engine will usually spit and sputter then go or just stall. Avoid prolonged idling, if you must do it periodically give it some gas (pump the pedal a few times) to clear the plugs and keep them from fouling.

Will a faulty thermostat stall my 2001 montero? its temp gets high but i know i have water on it. or would a faulty aux fan be the cause? please help. i dont think i blew up the head gasket.....YET. oil...

no , a faulty thermostat will not cause the engine to stall as such, but if the aux. fan is not working it will cause the engine to overheat if idling for long period, you don't need the fan to be working if you are traveling more than 40-50 MPH.....cheers .....hope this helps

Periodic stall issue. All guages go to zero,

Sounds like an intermittent short in the wire harness or ECU(computer).
If you can locate the computer(in the passenger side kickpanel), try
tapping on it with a plastic handled screwdriver handle, to see if the car
suddenly shuts down? If it does, your computer is shot. Good luck.

97 olds 88 check engine light on car stalls periodically

when you say stalls, do you mean shut off of just get low on power?

my check engine light comes on and then oil press light come on and the car shuts off but the lights and music stayed on.
if its that the car needs oil and shuts down to protect itself but it will turn on minutes later.

if stalls periodically, shows check engine light and the car looses a bit of power, in the engine, :

1. your coolant may be having problems getting to the engine in the way it was met to get to the engine

2. the belt might be a bit off and that could be why you get the slipping feeling

3. your exhaust may be a bit clogged. or your engine may need cleaning

i had both problems my car shut off and my engine was slipping. my EXPENSIVE but great machanic found out it was my oil level and my coolant was rusty and not getting to the engine. now she drives like the original 97 olds 88
