UNHOOK OUTPUT SHAFTS AND DRIVE SHAFT / REMOVE 2 RH AXLE TUBE NUTS AND ACTUATOR LINKAGE / UPPER AND LOWER BOLTS LH SIDE / SOME MODELS HAVE BRACKET AT REAR TO BLOCK / UNHOOK IDER AND PITTMAN JOINTS / ANGLE RH SIDE DOWN AND ROLL UNIT DOWN AND FORWARD T TRUCKS ARE HARDER THAN THE K TRUCKS
pull wheel and drum then pull back cover. Then find the eight mm bolt on the carrier pull that out then the pin it holds in. Now push the axle in to access the c clip that holds the axle in and pull axle out.
Have the rear-end check out (3rd member) center part of rear-end housing, and your rear axle bearing's, axle bearing if bad can also damage rear axle shaft's and will also have to be replaced.
there are vin ,vehicle parts id label, vehicle certification, engine, transmission, drive axle, transfer case, serpentine belt label, emissions hose routing label, vehicle emissions label, general info door label, veh label glove box,and vehicle info firewall tag ---chassis number??
Check your driveshaft universal joint (u joint). When the needle bearings go, this is the sound it makes. To check, chock all wheels front and rear, put in neutral, if 4x4, put 4x4 in neutral also, go under vehicle, grab driveshaft at u joint and try to turn back and forth, watching for play, wobble in u joint. U should be able to see it. Let me know how u do.
Remove wheel, remove rear diff cover, remove small bolt that retains spider gear cross shaft in the carrier. Push axle in, remove "c" clip on end of axle and remove axle from housing. Reverse to replace. Only problem you may have is that sometimes small bolt is broken inside carrier. if broken you will need to drill a tiny hole into it and remove with tiny "easy out" or other similar device. Do not turn carrier when shaft has been removed or spider gears will rotate and fall out!
if you are talking about the axle seals, 1.REMOVE THE WHEELS.2. REMOVE THE DIFF COVER(slowly)3.REMOVE THE BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY.4.REMOVE THE 8MM PIN IN THE DIFF CARRIER. 5.TURN CARRIER AND REMOVE THE LARGE PIN.6. FIRMLY HIT IN THE AXLE, A SMALL RETAINING C CLIP WILL FALL INTO THE DIFF HOUSING. DO THE SAME WITH THE OTHER SIDE. ( be careful if you have rear speed sensors remove it when you remove the brake calipers . you will break it when you are pushing in the axles.)7.pull axles and replace seals
