Question about 1993 Toyota Camry V6

1 Answer

Alarm remote I have a 93 Camry. About 2 years ago I got a new starter and battery and since then, in the colder weather, the remote to open the doors does not work and I have to open the doors with the key. Once I get into the car, the headlights start blinking like the alarm is going off. Then when I put the key in the ignition, the car will not start. I have to click the remote once or twice and then it will lock or unlock the doors and then I will be able to start the car. Unfortunately, I just lost the remote so I am afraid that I won't be able to start my car soon.

Look under the driver side seat for a small black box. This is the control for the remote/alarm system. Check to see that it is not wet. Open it up & inspect the circuit board. Are any of the circuits corroded/greenish powder on them? If so, you need to replace this box. Quite a common failure. But, there IS hope. You CAN start the car without the aid of the remote since you lost it. Put the key in the ignition, and, if the lights start flashing, CYCLE the key on-off 5 times. This action will defeat the alarm, and the car will start. This is provided in case the battery in the remote goes dead on you.

If you have a keyless remote, use it to lock and unlock your doors-if not, lock your door with the door lock, close the door, and unlock the door with the key. This should reset the alarm.

My 1999 toyota camry le won't start. it has been going downhill for some time. I have had to turn the key up to 50 or 60 times and then it suddenly starts right up. Now it won't start at all. It seems...

If the colder weather is affecting the problem I am suspecting the starter itself.
The brushes on the starter armature are likely worn and making intermittent contact.
And because it has gotten progressively worse would also indicate the progressive brush wear.
The solenoid is part of the starter and will come as an assembly.
The vehicle is over 10 years old and would be due for a starter at this time.

try this
Open hood ensure new battery is disconnected.
Open main fuse panel cover under hood and remove horn relay (so you don't have to listen to the horn).
Use the key to lock the drivers door.
Connect the positive battery terminal.
Connect the negative battery terminal (security system will now activate, hazards lights will flash and horn would be going off if the relay was not removed).
Use the key to unlock the drivers door.
Get in, close drivers door.
Use the key to start the engine.
Security system will deactivate.
Get out of vehicle, reinstall horn relay, replace fuse panel cover, close hood.

Replaced the battery on my 95 Camry and as soon as I open the door the alarm starts sounding. Help.

you set off the alarm.if you do not have the remote, get one as you need to unlock it with the remote.some vehicles if you lock and unlock the passenger door twice, will turn it off. call toyota, they can reset it more than likely with the obd2 computer. in the future, when changing the battery,a back up battery has to be wired in parallell with the main battery before it is disconnected.
