Can anyone tell me why smoke would appear from the steering column. It sounds as though a fuse has blown or something has shortened out. Everything still appears to be working as far as I can tell.

The most commin issue is a turn signal switch. The plastic heats up, the contacts pull slightly apart and the amperage goes up, and smoke. Surgery is needed to locate the issue, and this takes special tools and pullers, on your car. Turn signal replacement is kind of tricky, maybe best left to a shop.

Will not start

Look for NAKED or LOOSE wires under dash because something is shorting out cause the blown fuses. Possibly in the "Steering Column" if you truck has TILT Steering. LOOSE PLUGINS could cause this as well GOOD LUCK!

1994 nissan pickup headlight issues wont turn on right side everything else works brother told me something about headlight possible relay issue and I hear a tick when pushing in contactor in steering...

I think the left and right side are powered separately on that vehicle. Check for a Red/Green wire for the left and Red/Black for the R at the steering column. Check for a possible blown fuse. That would be easiest. You could have a bad ground wire on that side as well.

I`ve replaced my steering column and my car won`t start? Do I have to reprogram my computer or something?

Double check the wiring to the ignition unit and make sure everything is still lined up correctly.

My car stalled. I saw that my 25 amp engine fuse was blown. i replaced it and everytime i turn the ignition it will blow my fuse again.does anyone have a suggestion?

Something major is damaged. I suggest putting a circuit breaker in place, for diagnostics, then follow wiring with an inductive Amp meter to locate the problem area.

Smoke from 95 Camaro steering column

Where ever there's smoke, there's fire. This could be the multifunction switch arching and burning the lubrication in the assembly. Multifunction meaning, one switch that operates the turn signal wipers, cruise etc.
