The Oxygen sensor on the exhaust manifold/pipe sends a signal to make the fuel mixture richer while the engine is warming up. Once the engine is to operating temperature, it sends a signal to lean the fuel mixture.
If the sensor fails, then signal to lean the fuel mixture is not sent.
Oxygen sensor is recommended to be replaced at 100,000 miles.
From your description, replacing it should resolve.
