Turns out my airflow metre was fried. ($240 piece of plastic) Was told the cause may have been because of the air pod and long country driving. Have been advised to put the factory airbox back on unless car is used for high performance or wishing to gain maximum performance. After mounting a front cooler on, this should provide sufficient cool air to engine and turbine for every day driving.

Idle speed for Kia Rio 2007 is 1600 RPM. How do I reduce this to normal 750-800 RPM?

If your Rio has fuel injection then you cannot adjust the idle speed.

The idle speed is controlled by the ECU and the Idle Speed Control (ISC or IAC) valve which is mounted on the throttle body.

You should not adjust the throttle stop screw on the throttle body - this is factory set and should stay as it is.

If you're having trouble with idle speed , then it's more likely that the ISC valve has fouled up and needs cleaning with carb cleaner.

Chevy Malibu Cold Idle Problem

Check the water coolant thermostat. If it is stuck in the "open" position you are heating up all the water in the coolant system and this will take time. The thermostat keeps the water in the engine until warmed up to almost normal running temperature, only then does it allow the coolant to enter the radiator.

99 Rover 4.0 idles around 1700 rpm? Was told by dealership this is normal not to worry? Can't be true. Has anyone else had or heard of this to be an issue?

If the car also uses a heap of fuel,it may be the auto choke is stuck on.It may also be other things but thats a good place to start.Get it fixed because you will not be doing the transmission any favours by having it rev that high.It is NOT normal.Idle should be around 750 rpm. I suggest a different workshop.Hope this helps

Check for vacuum hoses disconnected. Also make sure throttle plate is clean and closing properly.

Go to autozone or similar and have vehicle scanned for codes. This will give you a idea what's wrong.

1992 isuzu trooper 3.2 DOHC 4X4 LOW IDLE GOES UP AND DOWN 750 RPM TO 1500 RPM

I had the same trouble with my 93 Trooper.

I went on a sensor-changing spree.

The one sensor that fixed this idle problem was the throttle position sensor.

You can get one here.

Throttle Position Sensor

It's very easy to change, and fixes the problem instantly.

Good luck.
