I had a 1989 F150 V8 5 speed for 15 years. The TPS is located on the underside of the throttle body and I feel it would get cooked by the engine heat. I replaced it several times, but the symptom was that it would stall while turning corners. An easy check is if the RPM's decrease when you turn on the AC, its not doing its job.
Hi,
it could be the idle air control sensor/solenoid on the throttle body if its TBI, its near the air intake on the TBI , also near the throttle position sensor, try pulling the wire harness off of the idle solenoid and starting it, if it does the same thing, that might have been it, theyre expensive new but we got the whole TB at junkyard for 20.00
if it isnt that I suggest getting a code reader or taking it in so you dont waste money..
Good Luck
J
Sounds like your tank pump may have failed. this vehicle has two and one is on the frame. It can **** gas through the old one.
Another possibility is the fuel line has a leak in it.
Did you change the spark plugs in the tune up?
