Go online to and google" manuel for 2006 chevy silverado 1500 2wd". Or you can go to ask.com and ask" Where is the resister located on a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 2wd". It will give you the info you need.
The bower motor is most likely what you are smelling.Replace the blower motor, and the blower resister next to the blower motor if,the blower motor has no speeds.
The vent solenoid might be bad. You need to see If you are getting
power to it. The computer provides a ground for the solenoid. You can
test it by applying a power and a ground to the solenoid to see if it
operates and open's and Close's. ( I am taking into V6 engine ).
Common problem on the 03-06 Silverado instrument clusters for the fuel gauge to go out. It's usually caused by one of two main problems, either the stepper motor on the cluster's circuit board is going out or the sending unit on the fuel pump is going out. Check out this blog post about the problem - Silverado fuel gauge problems
