I dont know what year model you have but the newer one will run when car is turned off to cool radiator. Maybe you have a radiator problem if this just started to happen. Is the car over heating. Did you check radiator fluid or thermostat. I dont know much about your car and year model but i would do these checks. Maybe radiator needs to be flushed. You can use aluminum brite for to flush. Can buy it at O Reiley's. I had to flush my daughters radiator about 10 times when we bought it used, fithy. Looks brand new. Please dispose of chemicals properly. It is an acid.
Hi Bro, Have you check one single wire to switch temperature, if this unplugged the fan will run nonstop, even without your engine start and your key is in "ON" position, it's exactly what happen to my 1994 corolla
try your remote batteries i would remove them from both remotes then reattach the batt cable if this dosen't work could be a bad alarm controller fan relay has nothing to do with it you need a new radiator fan thermo switch located on the radiator
Some cars are designed to allow the fans to run even with the key off until the engine and radiator cool down. If it continues to run after 19-15 minutes you may have a sticking fan relay, usually located in the fuse box in the engine compartment, just replace it and it should take care of your problem
ECT wont kill the engine. If it over heated and you kept driving it. You just might have blown the engine. Put a socket on the balancer bolt and see if you can turn the engine by hand. Clock wise.
The fans will run even if the vehicle is off. This is to keep the engine from overheating after it is shut off. (residual heat). Now if the fans run continuously after the vehicle is shut off and do not shut off in say, 15 minutes then the fan relay may be stuck or the temperature sensor has failed. The fans may also come on after a long drive several minutes after the vehicle has stopped as heat builds up because there is no air flowing across the radiator. They may even be controlled by the engine computer in some vehicles. You can have a code check run at many parts stores for free. Also, check the coolant level with the vehicle off and totally cold at the radiator itself to be sure that it's not low (Even if the reserve tank is full you can still be low creating hot pockets in the block). Make sure the overflow tubes are connected to the reserve tank I have seen them fall off and drain the radiator slowly without being noticed. Hope this helps.
over heating while stopped usually indicates that the radiator fan is not coming on ...when the engine is running hot you should be able to hear the fan running .. if it doesnt then suspect the thermal switch mounted on the radiator .. make sure the fan turns freely .. the fan is not needed when the car is moving so it wont heat up as long as you are driving .. but will do so when stopped if thats the trouble .. sometimes the thermal switch operates a relay that in turn operates the fan ..that could also cause the trouble ..
