My 04 new beetle conv also has a problem with the passenger side rear window working. When I push the switch it just grinds and will not move. I need to find out how to get into and if anyone has a solution.

2003 same problem with window rear passenger side. I think it's a lemon. Ever since we bought this thing it's been one thing after another. Tail light, head light, water leaks in passenger door and now the window when engaged in the upward motion stops halfway up and proceeds to engage downward only it never goes all the way up!

I'm about done with spending money after this piece of junk! Buy American they said and so I will!

    Lemon law should apply here!

I have the same problem with my 2003 convertible beetle rear window. It started grinding and then dropped. Do I need to buy a part for it and if so, where should I buy it?

This just happened to me this week! I have been told the it will cost $500 min. :( He sounded like he hears it a lot. Do I have to get it fixed at a VW place or might it be worth getting it done somewhere else?

I do not recommend this job unless you are a seasoned mechanic, VW dealership charges $1000 for a reason. They almost earn it on this one. but heres how it's done or how I did it any way. the complete job took me 4 hours and I been at this for 30 years. But a lot of this time was figuring out how it came apart. First, drop the top, pull up on seat bottom and remove it, remove center panel, remove 3 allen bolts at bottom on seat back and remove. headrests, they just pull off, raise top just enough to make hinged panels flip up. remove nut at top rear corner of side panel. you can see the back side of the nut and bolt it is on from the panels that flip up. Remove Nylon push lock rivet where seat belt goes through panel on rear, top, corner. Pull out on panel to release it, there is 5 or 6 nylon locks that just pull out of holes in the body. It will sound like your breaking it when the locks pop loose, or mine did. then lift to gain access to remove seat belt bolts and unplug flip panel motors. remove cable end from its clip. Pull seat belts through panel. Set panel a side. remove torx head bolt around oval panel that speaker is mounted on. unplug speaker and regulator and pull wire harness thru hole. remove 2 allen and 5 hex bolts at top where window would come out if it worked. pull up on plate and move rubber window seal to the side to remove plate. remove 2 nuts at bottom of regulator and one about half way up towards front, lift regulator and window up through top to gain access to 3 nuts that hold window to regulator, from the top lift window out first then regulator. Reverse to assemble it.

How do i replace rear passenger window

Did they break the larger window? or the smaller one?
The larger one is the easy one, remove the door panel, adjust the window mechanism until you can see the bolts on the bottom window track, undo these bolts and remove the old track, To fit the new window it's simply a matter of removing the side window guide rail and sliding the window in on an angle and wiggle it around until you get it inside the door, the seat it in the rail and replace the guide rail. Then bolt the window to the mechanism and re-assemble the door panel.

If it's the smaller one you need to remove the larger window first then remove the frame between the smaller and larger piece of glass, You can then replace the glass.

I would suggest calling around and you may get a good price for an expert to replace it as it is a pain to do.

I need to know how to get my rear passenger window in my 2005 vw beetle convertible back on it's track

If the glass fell down you need a new window regulator....take a chair with you to the VW parts counter so you can sit down when they tell you how much they cost !!

Last one I did was in a 2004 VW NB convertible..... $800.00 installed

Window motor needs replacing

It may be your track, not the motor. You would have to take the interior door panel off to check. I would look at this first because the track is a less expensive part to purchase.

2003 Jeep Liberty rear side window "squeals" when operated down.

I usually spray guide tracks with a silicone spray. It works pretty well. Up north where I am, when sprayed on door seals it keeps doors from freezing closed as well!

2003 pontiac grand am power window on passenger window raises from rear only, front patr of window stays down

there are 2 clips on the window that are connected to the track. They are glue on and then screwed in. they have a bad habit of breaking. Its not a hard fix but it does take some time.
