1998 saturn 4 cyl. when the engine is cool it starts fine. but after running for a short time and turn it off i cannot start it right away. i have to wait for 20 minutes or so. the starter solenoid will not engage until after the engine has cooled down. when its warm and i try starting it there is no click sound from the solenoid. no dimming of headlights and so on. what does normal operating temp have to do with the solenoid not making contact. and what needs to happen?

The problem may not be the engine operating temp., but rather the starter solenoid. I have experienced the same problem with Chev. P.U.'s that have the solenoid mounted on the starter. By changing the contacts in the solenoid, the problem went away. If possible take the starter to a reputable auto electrical shop, and have them check it.

Hello, looking for starter location for a 2006 saturn vue 2.2l 4 cylinder.

If it's like every other 2.2 front wheel drive Saturn, it should be at the bottom front of the engine, away from the serpentine belt side.
Look under the car, right side. It should be fairly obvious .
Please disconnect the battery before attempting any removal.

MY 1998 SATURN DOESN'T SHUT OFF FOR 30 SECONDS WHEN U TURN ENGINE OFF HELP

One thing I can think of that will do that, is if some one wire your radiator elec. fan motor direct where it runs all the time, the fan motor will act like a alternator, where it will put voltage out to the ignition system, and till it stops spinning it will power the engine elec. system, one way to check is disconnect the cooling fan elec. plug (harness) and start the engine, if it turn off right away that your problem.
