LAST WEEK I HEARD A FUNNY NOISE WHEN TAKING OFF IN MY YUKON. THE AIR CONDITIONER STARTED BLOWING ONLY HOT AIR.
MECHANIC SAID THE BELT HAD BROKEN. HE REPAIRED IT AND I HAD COLD AIR AGAIN. SINCE THE REPAIR I STILL HAVE COLD AIR BUT STILL HEAR NOISE WHEN TAKING OFF WHEN AIR CONDITIONER IS ON.
I have a 2001 Yukon with what sounds like the same problem. I had this viberation type sound and then NO cold air. The belt had been broken/split length wise not across. The belt was replaced and that lasted about 4 hours.Hot air again! This time the tensioner was replaced along with the belt and that lasted about 1 hour. Noise followed by HOT air.We are stumped. There are a few possibilities. Blown fuse to the compressor clutch, bad clutch, seized compressor, broken belt, low system pressure, or a rock through the coils in front of the radiator causing a leak. Take it to a reputable mechanic for repairs.
It's most likely your blower motor control module. Easy fix! Remove the kick plate under the glove compartment and the module is right next to your blower motor - remove the two screws and it will drop right out. Disconnect the wire harness (2 wires) and replace. Good luck!
Sound unrelated. to many things to check for the AC problem, gas leak, compressor, condenser, evaporator, TX valve, HP-LP switch, belt, clutch, drier.plumbing, get my drift...
