Car wont start, or crank, brand new battery

I have the same problem.thought it was a dead battery because it started when I jumped it once, then it would not start after that even when I jumped it.Put a new battery in and it still wouldn't start, didn't even make a noise except a buzzing sound in the engine area.I was going to take of my air intake to get to the starter so I unplugged the MAF sensor wires,I decided not to continue so I plugged it back in.I decided to try and start it again out of frustration and it started.but I don't believe it will continue to start,I hope someone can help. Thanks

Hit the starter few times with metal object (hammer or pipe or some sort) while someone else is holding the key in START position. If car starts, your starter is NO GOOD. This is a quick test. There is more testing that you could do, but start there. Whack it with something.

I've ha the same problem on my 95 civic. Changed the starter, a relay, checked the ignition switch, distributor... and found it was a faulty ground from engine to engine compartment. To check this last solution, simply attach a wire big enough between the engine and chassis and turn the ignition key. If the car starts, you've found your problem!

Hope this can help.

SOURCE: engine cranks car won't start

Sorry..... 1 notch off is just not good enough. It has to be exact , then if it doesn't run start looking at other posibilities.

Remember that the camshaft turns twice eash time the crank turns once. The distributor rotor works off a gear on the cam.
Your rotor could be off a bit , or it could look exactly perfect the way it was when tou took it out , and still be 180 degrees off.
You have to get your engine to "top dead center" and make sure everything is the way it should be.

A timing chain ( or belt ) can cause permanent and fatal damage to the valve train and pistons in motors that are "interference engines" Find out weather yours is. In a non-interference engine , the clearance between the valves and the pistons is large enough to alow them to move out of time without crashing into each other. An interference engine is not so forgiving.

The fact that your engine cranks makes me hopefull that it is a non interference engine , and that damage has not been done.

Try to find a haynes manual for you vehicle , it will walk you through the steps for most repairs.

SOURCE: 1989 vw jetta wont crank. replaced battery still wont start.

Ive got a Jetta 2 CSI and had the same trouble. I then discovered that my coldstart packed up, wich you cant even get at the agents anymore. So If you are in the Benoni area I can fix it for you for 'n reasonable price, and you won't have that trouble any longer. Mine is still starting by just touching the key. 0829484343

New Battery/starter and still wont crank.

car wont crank or car wont start? I would say your battery cables are bad,, acid gets in from battery and erodes internal cable parts... need a Meter to check it out.. put the meter on battery while someone tries to start it, if the voltage drops from 13.5 to 10 then it is trying to turn over, I always have the new starters tester before I leave a store, they are remanufactured in Malaysa and they use old parts in most of them..

Car wont start and i have a new battery

have the battery load tested as brand new batteries can be faulty. Check that the terminals on the battery are shiny clean and tight. Check battery leads are in good condition and not corroded away and check the earth wire is fixed and in good condition.

1993 volkswagon passat VR6 wont start

Sounds like a blown fuse or wiring problem.
A mechanic would check to see if the starter will crank with power direct from the battery, then look for power to the starter from the key switch.

Car wont start brand new battery

Car no start problem is sometimes very difficult to confirm. You try all the possible things, but still you get no fault and problem is still the same.--------
In that case, you need to check few things individually.
Check the spark, the battery, the crank, the fuel and other most possible parts. Click this link below for more details:-- http://howtobyme.blogspot.com/2011/10/car-troubleshooting-tips.html

1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport Ignition Lights Come on but wont crank

Try putting the car in neutral and starting. If its a manual trans it might be the clutch pedal safety switch or it may be something as simple as a loose battery connection.
