I am having a horrible grinding sound and vibration in my brake pedal and i can sometimes feel it in my steering wheel while turning. My ABS and Trac Off lights keep coming on as well. I got the left front cv axle replaced and its not the wheel bearings. I really need to know what to look for cuz all of the "mechanics" out there are telling me something different.

I really hate these questions

How do different mechanics come up with
different ideas.

They either talk the talk and test nothing
or you leave with no solution & I ask why?

Have you left the car long enough with specific
directions, as to what was to be done and nothing else ?

If so, then we have a lot of incompetent folks in the wrong
line of work

I have no idea what your issues are

But you have ABS & Trac lights on, and just had a CV axle
replaced. That give me a bad feeling that the ABS Sensor
was damaged

Take this with some doubt, but mechanics just can not
put down the air guns. They could very well have ruined ,
what were good wheel bearings, doing your axle

The ABS issues are part of your vibration & unless you
know all about the condition of your brake rotors and pads
and all the possible years of accumulated rust going on there,
that is more to look at.

Grinding sound ? May be worn brake pads, down to the metal against the rotors. Vibration, could be a warped rotor, wheels not balanced, worn outter tie rods. The ABS light will come on if the tooth ring is broken, giving you a pulsing pedal. That is what the ABS does.

SOURCE: I am having a horrible grinding sound and

i would make sure you had the correct axle installed when it was replaced. being that you feel it in your steering wheel tat means it's definatly coming from the front wheels. since you say that the mil lights are coming on i would lean towards the wheel bearings if the speed sensors are part of the wheel bearing hub. i would have a scanner put on the car and see what wheel is throwng the code and go from there.

My ABS light comes on and goes off in my 2005 mariner. I sometimes notice a grinding sound and can feel the brake pedal shake when turning left or right. Only when the light is on.

check the hub/wheel bearing and your brakes the abs is part of your hub assembly and if hub damaged or failing will affect the abs system --also check the sensor and wiring sometimes debris damage the wire but with grinding and shake most probable is hub and a brake job

I HAVE A 2004 AZTEK AND HAVE VIBRATION WHEN PRESSING GAS PEDAL. WHAT CAUSES THIS?

you don't say where the noise is. that is important to give a clue where the issue is. when stopping on the brakes 3 things happen. you press the pedal and the abs pump starts pumping fluid. the second is the brake capilers start pushing on the rotors to slow the car. the rotors are attached to the wheels and that stops the car. so if the rotors are warped you will feel a vibration in the steering wheel when stepping on the brakes. if its your foot feeling the pump working that is normal for abs pumping. you should feel it and holding the pedal will keep it working and stop you from skidding if everything is working correctly

What could be the problem.. my 2007 montana van gets stuck for a few seconds and sometimes vibrates like the wheels locked as i step on the gas pedal and drive.. i could be in park and step on the brake...

if you are getting a grinding sound or feeling then your brakes lining is gone and you are down to the metal. you need to fix this asap the longer you drive and use the brakes the more damage you are doing to the rotors.

Ford Explorer 2002 grinding and vibration under 60 mph

you have wheel bearings failing
the random abs light is the rotor for the sensor touching the sensor head because the wheels are loose on the shaft

For a couple of weeks on my 2000 chevy blazer the breaks were acting funny. Whenever I would come to a stop they would grind a lttle but not all the time. When I would park in a space it would do it to but...

First thing with brakes is to check the lining thickness. You can usually see the fronts through the wheel, or look underneath. If you have drum brakes in the back there may be a rubber inspection plug.

But if linings are ok, another risk is wheel bearings. You would then feel it as a vibration in pedal, and through steering wheel if a front bearing.

With the light, have the ABS code read with a ODBCII module. Autozone can do this for free.

Vibration when braking that I feel through the brake pedal.

Is it possible that you are hearing the abs pump running in the engine compartment? It sounds like an ABS problem with one of your wheel speed sensors.
