The traction control system works off of the abs system so there is a code in the abs module that needs to be pulled so you know were to start to check the system out.the service engine light is a different system all together and there is a code in the ecm that must be pulled so you know were to start to check to repair that system.you don`t say why you jumped to the conclusion that the gas cap set a code.the emergency brake light will come on if the e-brake is not all the way in the off position(something may be holding the lever up just enough to put the light on.the switch could be misadjusted and needs to e readjusted.

Testimonial: "Very impressed with the short time to reply. Thanks for help.I mentioned the gas cap , if it's not installed tightly or properly, engine light is ON"

Abs light, tractions off light and check engine light stays on

You may have two problems here, depending on what codes both systems have. The ABS and Trac lights will be turned on whenever the ABS system sees a problem with a wheel speed sensor, a signal reading, or some other component or circuit. Because this type of problem prevents both the ABS and Traction Control system from functioning properly the system will turn on the warning lamp to alert the driver that there is a problem. Usually the Check engine lamps won't come on for an ABS problem but it may if it is a type of problem that affects both systems. I would have a good shop read both the codes in both systems and once they know what the system is seeing they should be able to figure out what has gone wrong. Brakes are one of the most vital safety systems on your vehicle so you should have it checked out as soon as possible!

Abs light check engine light and trac light come on at same time

You need to start with having the vehicle computer scanned for codes to send you in the right direction for the problem. Alot of parts suppliers like autozone etc will scan it for you..

Problem with a 2000 grand am gt

Ok the abs light is on, because one of your sensors are bad...most places have scanners which can pinpoint which one..but you probaly can look under your vehicle, right behind the tires, by the brake caliper, and you will find the sensor...on both front ..just follow it to wear it connects, and make sure that its plugged in all the way, and the wire itself is not popped or broken..As for the rear (if you have rear abs..) you can do the same thing..Now the service soon light is programmed in your computer by the factory..so around every 30,000 miles are so..that is going to come on..And the traction light also runs off of the abs..um almost sure they came on around the same time..Sometimes there is a traction control button..and sometimes if the road is slippery and you spin out while taking off..that can also trigger that light to come on..Goodluck...

The ABS light is on the in the dash of my 1997 Grand Am. What does it mean and how do I fix it?

My ABS light stays on. What should I do? This means the ABS is not working. However, the conventional braking system is working. We recommend that you take your vehicle to your nearest dealer for servicing as soon as possible.

Abs light, trac light, service engine soon light 2001 Pontiac Grand Am

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.

99 pontiac transport- tcs, abs, emerg brake and low traction(flash)

Have the ABS system scanned for codes. The ABS and Traction control use the same computer. You likely have a bad wheel speed sensor.

2003 pontiac grandam gt. what does it mean if your abs light ,serv. vehicle soon and track off light are all on?

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the Check Engine, Service Engine Soon, ABS Or TC lights to tell you that there is a problem and you should have the car diagnosed and repaired. I would take it to a service center you trust and let then come up with a solution. Sometimes a problem in one system will turn the light on for other systems that communicate with it, but it doesn't mean there is a problem in all of the systems.

Lights that wont go away: Trac Off, ABS, Oil Change, Service Vehicle soon

Sorry tina , but you are going to need a new "cluster assembly" most likely. The cluster assembly is the dash instrument panel with all the gauges behind the clear lens. As an ex-pontiac technician of 13 years , pretty much every one of these with more than one light remaining on after start-up is going to need an "exchange" cluster. What the G.M. dealer does is removes the cluster from the car and "swaps" it with another one that has been refurbished-not always do they have a local authorized repair source though. I know the going exchange rate on these units is about $250.00. Hopefully they don't mark it up too much from there. I recommend you have it professionally checked out and diagnosed as you could also have an ABS code which could illuminate the trac off , abs light and check engine light simultaneously. Good luck..............Scott

1999 Pontiac Grand Prix lights are staying on

what is the procedure you are using can you explain it to me?
Resetting Procedure

To reset the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator if equipped with the Driver Information Center (DIC).

  1. Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.
  2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
    • If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the ignition key to OFF then start the vehicle.
    • If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on, repeat the procedure.
To reset the OIL LIFE indicator if equipped with a Trip Computer.

  1. Press the trip MODE button until the light appears next to OIL LIFE.
  2. Press and hold the trip RESET button until the oil life percentage changes to 100%.
Hope this helps Ill look into the ABS lights but I do believe that you will need a scan tool to retreive a code to be able to diagnose the reason for the lights
