My first thought was fuel pressure. Low fuel pressure would cause the engine to go lean but not set a code for the actual problem. Is it possible the fuel filter is clogged ? Have you checked fuel pressure?
Not yet. The check engine light coming on is letting you know that the self diagnostic function of the engine computer has detected a problem and set a trouble code. That code can be read by a code reader. Most major auto parts stores have these code readers and will read your code for free. The code number can tell you/us where to start looking for the problem.

Perform a valve clearance inspection and adjust if necessary. Tight or sticking valves will cause a misfire or rough running concern. Note: Perform valve adjustment when the engine is stone cold. 4cyl: INT 0.26mm EXH: 0.30mm (V6 engine are hydraulic and no adjust necessary.) Also check for a sticking or stuck open EGR valve. For diagnostic purposes only: Remove the EGR valve. Place a business card over the EGR passage and bolt the EGR valve back on. This plugs the EGR ports and if the misfire goes away the EGR valve is partially stuck open and is defective.
Check for low fuel pressure. Check for low compression. Check cam timing. Check for a weak ignition coil. Also don't over look the possibility of worn or broken engine mounts which cause excessive engine movement and engine vibration. -hope this helps
This sounds to me like it may be the Mass Air Flow Sensor is bad. There really is no actual way to test this sensor. I would recommend either another scan from a different parts store or possibly replacing the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Hope this helps.
You may not have a leak, the problem may be with the sensor on the fuel tank that tells the Power Train Control module if the system holds vacuum, like all sensors these will and do fail on occassion, if you ran a leak down test and the system held vacuum within the manufacturers specs then the sensor may very well be the problem that is turning on the check engine light.
