Need to replace glass and MANUAL window winder in door

My best advice here is to pay a specialist to do it. they will be able to do it quickly, easily and they pay for it if the glass breaks during fitting.
For Door windows you will need to remove the door card on the inside of the door to get access to the door winder mechanism, frame and rails for the glass. You will probably also need to remove the door trim the glass rises up through to give you more room to get the glass in. Replacing the glass isn't too difficult but it is a two person job and will probably take at least a whole day to do. As the new window glass is curved it will also take a lot of twisting and rotating to get it in without breaking it.
The rest of the windows, like the windscreens and rear quarterlight windows, are bonded in with a strong adhesive which needs to be cut out and the frame cleaned before the new glass can be glued, (bonded), into position.

Window glass removal is not complicated but it usually costs you the skin off your knuckles. You will need a helper for this. I would suggest you buy some new 'push in' clips for the door panel, on a car of that age you will break some of them.
Try this method. Wind the window up to the half way point. Remove the door pull handle, the door release lever, the window winding handle and the locking lever trim cover. Remove the inside and outside trim strips that the glass sits between, (The bit you rest your elbow on when the window is open), as this make getting the glass out easier. Then remove the door card. You might need to use a Plastic trim tool for this to avoid breaking the 'push in' clips as you lever up around the edge of the panel. There should be a layer of plastic between the panel and the door which is a water proof layer protecting the trim panel. Remove it.
There will be a large unpainted part bolted in the middle of the door that the window winder sticks out from.
From this point get your helper to hold onto the glass. Undo the 4 retaining screws. Swing the front edge of this winder mechanism out towards you and slide it forwards to release the hook at the rear end of it. The winder mechanism is stuck in place with a waterproof sealant so you might need to Gently lever it to get it free. At this point you will need to 'wriggle' the whole mechanism forward and backwards to release it from the runner rails and out of the door. Once the mechanism is out, rotate the actual glass downwards towards the front of the car and the glass should slide up and out.
To refit the glass repeat this process in reverse.

There a just a couple screws holding the door panel on, you need to replace the window regulator I think it comes with the motor, It's a pretty straight forward operation you can either tape the window in the full up position or remove the glass. I'm not familiar with that particular car but I'll tell you what I know about rear door glass. On most cars you have to remove the door trim and handles, then strip the window rubbers / flock trim from the door/window frame. There will be various screws hold the guides and winder or motor in place. Remove the quarter light frame if it has one. The door glass guide rails and then enter the glass through the top of the door, tilting it accordingly. When you have the glass inside the door assy, get an assistant to take the weight of the glass while you reassemble the glass guides etc in the reverse order. Be patient because its a fiddly job rather than difficult.

Undo the bolts around the window winder handle and any other bolts holding the winder, make sure the glass does not fall and brake, then slide the winder out,

I believe your window winder (scissor lift) unit needs replacing, I hope this helps....

If manual window winder

Your driver's window glass may have come off the regulator mechanism.


If electric window control

The glass may have detached from the regulator or the regulator cable has unwound itself off the mechanism (ie tension during upward motion, but loose when motor stops winding).

Your driver's door panel will need to be removed to inspect your window regulator operation.

inside the door is a winder, pull off the face of the door and check if the glass is coonnected with the winder. The glass is connected to the winder with silicone.

you will have to remove all the trim from inside of the door, remove the weather seal from behind the trim as well
if it has electric windows you will have to remove the winder as a unit from inside the door
remove any broken glass from inside the door, turn the replacement glass with the narrow end down and slide it down through the top opening where the window glass normally goes in the door
once it is inside the door turn it around so it is in its normal position and place it in the channels where the glass runs, connect the electric winder mechanism and replace everything in reverse order as you removed it

remove the inside door trim and weather protection from behind it, wind the window down until you can see the bolts holding the glass to the winder mechanism, undo the bolts and tilt glass to remove it from its track and remove through the top of the door opening. replace in reverse order
