I already check the terminal clamps and cables. Remove and give them a
good clean with a wire brush. and check both ends on the cables.

to jump start the car i attached one end of one cable to the dead
battery's positive terminal. then i attach the other end of the same
cable to the positive terminal of the battery in the starting vehicle,
and then attach one end of the other cable to the negative terminal of
the battery in the starting vehicle. and last i attach the other end of
that cable to the engine block of
the car with the dead battery.

If you can get to a battery dealer, have them do a LOAD CHECK'. Some batteries can posses what is called a 'surface charge'. They have the volts, but not the amps. This will tell you.

well its a new battery, but i guess i'll take it into autozone...

Excellent reply Lucifer,

I thought for sure we were looking at a problem with the ignition switch. Since it works with a jump, that's out.

Now battery and its connections will be the focus.

Check the terminal clamps and cables. Remove and give them a good going over with a wire brush. Check both ends on the cables.

When you jumped it, where did you attach the clamps? Battery on both? Black to the engine?

If you can get to a battery dealer, have them do a LOAD CHECK'. Some batteries can posses what is called a 'surface charge'. They have the volts, but not the amps. This will tell you.

We're getting close. The really good news is that it worked with the jump start. Your starting system is functioning. The most this will cost you is a battery.

Again, get back to me with the results.

The battery is good but engine will not crank

I am assuming from your question when you turn the key nothing happens. If this is the case it could be: Transmission not in park or Neutral, blown fuse, dead solenoid, bad battery cable or blown fuseable link. More information would be helpful.

Jaguar x type battery dead

What year and engine size is this 2008 jaguar x type?

Are you sure the battery is good, did you have it tested, next if battery is good and you can see bright headlights when you turn them on then i would look at the fuses, if you jump started it you may have blown a fuse.

when you say no ignition what do you mean? are the dash lights coming on when you turn the key?

Is the problem that you have no knd of power to car or every thing lights up but nothing happens when you try to crank engine, or does engine crank (SPIN OVER) but not start up ?

let me know the answers to these questions and i will help you. good day

I have a 02 ford windstar. 3.8L does not start or do anything, Has a brand new Battery about a month ago Checked all fuses and they all have power. When you turn the key to start nothing happens, no...

A few things I can think of are the starting circuit of the ignition switch, the neutral saftey switch, the starter solenoid, a fusible link, and a bad connection.

It wont start turn key dash lights up nothing happens

sounds like a dead battery to start with. Not even enough juice in the battery to energize the solenoid / brake interlock to get it out of PARK. Hope this helps
