Just a few days ago, I started to feel the engine "kicking" on my '04 Dodge Grand Caravan. It started doing it when in idle at a stop light, but over the last couple of days I can even feel it when moving. The engine light is on and has been diagnosed as needing the o2 sensor replaced. Other than that, regular basic maintenance has been performed (oil change, etc.) and a tune-up is also on the schedule as the van recently turned over 100K miles. Is the engine "kicking" because it simply needs a tune-up? I bought the van (used) in '08 and have never had a tune-up done on it. Could the "kick" have something to do with the o2 sensor? Any other possibilities?

SOURCE: "perform service" recently appeared on

Welcome to Fixya

Look in to your manual on how to set it.

SERVICE INTER - The options include from 3200 to 12000 kilometers in 800 kilometer increments (2000 to 7500 miles in 500 mile increments). The default is 12000 kilometers (7500 miles). The selected distance becomes the interval at which the Perform Service warning message will be displayed by the EVIC. If a new distance is selected, a second programmable feature
appears, RESET SERVICE DISTANCE? - The options include No and Yes. The default is Yes. When Yes is selected, the accumulated distance since the last previous Perform Service warning message will be reset to zero because the service interval has been changed. When No is selected, the distance until the next Perform Service warning message is reduced by the accumulated distance since the last previous message.

USE FACTORY SETTINGS? - The options include Yes and No. The default is Yes. When yes is selected all the programmable features will return to there defaults and the rest of the programmable features will not be displayed. If No is selected the rest of the programmable features will be displayed at there current chosen values. This feature will automatically return to the Yes default under two conditions. First, if no programmable features are changed from there defaults. Second, if all the programmable features equal there defaults.

Four DTC on 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

Pretty sure your BCM ( body control module) is up under dash on drivers side, hard to see but is way up in there. Any chance you disturbed the connector to it, while doing vacuum gauge? How exactly did you install that gauge?

After fill ups, engine light indicates deffective 02 sensor bank1. On a '04, Dodge Grand Caravan, 3.8.

You must have duel exhast then. Bank 1 is the drivers side and you have a upper and lower o2 sensor. More than likely it is the upper o2 sensor that is the problem.

Dodge grand caraven stalls when the ideling while the A/C on.

You need to clean the air bypass valve and the throttle body, they both cause this stalling concern due to sludge buildup, you will need a can of carb spray, remove the air intake hose from the engine, have someone hold the idle up while you spray about half the can into the intake manifold, shut off the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to clear any codes that have been set, reconnect and drive a day or so, this should cure your issue.
