If your vehicle is equipped with a Flex-Fuel engine it is safe to use E85. If your vehicle is not equipped with a Flex Fuel engine, E85 will cause all kinds of driveability problems including a no-start. The vehicle should say "Flex-Fuel" on it or there will be a green "Leaf" emblem somewhere on the body.
For a 2002 Dodge Caravan, the best way to positively identify the engine is to look at the VIN. The only engine code that is Flex-Fuel is engine code "G". The engine code is the 8th digit of the VIN. The 10th digit is the year of manufacture and should be a "2" on your vehicle. If there is ANY OTHER engine code, DO NOT put E85 in the tank.
P.S. I am really glad you asked. I have had to fix a few vehicles that were towed in for this. The customer thought they were doing the right thing for the environment by using this replenishable energy resource only to get stuck with a hefty tow and repair bill. I have a feeling that we are going to see many of these in the coming years. You may have helped someone else by simply posting this question online. Most people don't think to ask.

First check your owners manual, it should tell you if yopu can or cannot use E 85,most gas capshave the yellow around it telling you that E85 is ok to use.
My 2002 grand caravan has a factory sticker behind the gas cap cover that says to use E85.
Hello: If the truck has a tag that says flex fuel it would be ok. To be safe I would take it to a Dodge dealership and ask them. They can use the VIN number to determine if the truck is made for E85. If you use E85 and the truck isn't compatible for it you will have extensive and expensive damage to your fuel system, ie, fuel injectors, lines, fuel pump, fuel sending unit and more..
