It is not the resistor that fails but the little thermal limiter next to the coils of wire that form the resistive element, it is round, looks like a little barrel.

Kerry, Check all fuses and relays, quite often it is the blower motor resistor. 3 rd link will show diagnosing fan. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

A/c wont work. stopped working on 3 setting first, then would only work on high.

Hi, this is usually due to a burned out resistor pack, but is sometimes caused by the switch. Remove the panel above the front passenger's feet to see the blower and resistor. Pull the connector off the resistor, remove the 2 screws, and pull the resistor out to check for heat damage. If it looks good, please get back to me for steps to check the switch. A new resistor pack is about $40.

The heater blower stopped working tested the resister and it has power, how can I get to the switch that controls the different speeds for the blower. I'm thinking that's the problem

the issue is in the resistor check the poer and ground at the blower motor its self it should have power in all speeds.even if the motors not running..if thers power at the motor give the motor a tap..or check the under hood fuse..its not a resistor its an actual blower module...and extreamly common also check the resistor wires and connector they are known to melt inside the connector...if ok relace the resistor....

My heater on my 2000 toyota tacoma only works on high and makes a loud noise then. The hot/cold dial also is hard to turn and makes a loud popping noise.

The switch or resistors at the blower motor.( resistors are usually found next to blower motor)
Ther relay is the last place you check for resistance. However, before doing any kind of electrical testing or repair POINT THE WHEELS STRAIGHT AHEAD. DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL. WAITE AT LEAST 2 MINUTES FOR BACK UP POWER SUPPLY TO BE DEPLEATED..THEN DISCONNECT THE YELLOWAIR BAG CONNECTOR LOCATED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN NEAR THECOMBO SWITCH AND BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. BE CAREFUL AND GOOD LUCK

Blower motor does not operate at any speed, will not work at all when switch is turned on. Fuses look fine.Thank you

Try replacing the fan resistor they are about $40.00. The resistor is located on the side ( usually the underside ) of the heater box under dash below the glove box.
