Question about 1992 Mercury Topaz

1992 mercury topaz auto/ 4 cyl//

Replaced distributor assy.,, replaced fuel pump assy,, it won't start,, isit a sensor?? and wich sensor controls the fuel ??

when i turn key i can hear the feul pump cycle then the car will start but then
shut off. when i turn the key again i dont hear the pump cycle on. so i sit and
keep trying the key and eventually the fuel pump cycles back on. when the
pump finally cycles on theres a spuradic clicking sound coming from behind
the glove box. can this be the fuel pump relay? where is it located exactly?

Did you fix this yet?
Are you getting fuel to the plugs?
Try starting the car, then remove one of the plugs. Check for the smell of fresh gasoline. You could also try smelling the exhaust to see if there is a fresh unburt gasoline smell.
If your getting fuel, then the fuel system is probably not the problem.
Are you getting spark to the plugs?
After you replaced the Distributor, did you adjust the timing?

Check for sparks. If sparks are good, check fuel pressure.

check for vacuum leaks,especially at fuel control valves,intake manifold.locate T P [throttle position]Sensor,on intake,opposite throttle lever.check wiring connector,spray sensor with WD 40 or CRC,if a change is noted,replace T P S.

I have a 93 mercury topaz 4cyl 2.3L that stalls while driving I have replaced the ecu, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, and distributor cap and rotor, the fuel pump, fuel pump strainer, fuel pump...

It sounds to me like you replaced everything but the most likely cause of a stall while driving...The crank sensor.

Where is the fuel pump relay located on a 1992 Mercury topaz

the fuel pump relay is located on the left shock tower in the engine compartment in a black box 6x4x1 inches. there are other relays inside the same box which is actually called the ccrm or constant contorl relay module, there should be a double connector with 20 to 26 wires in it, hard to miss.

possibly the oil pressure sending unit- looks like a small spark plug screwed into the engine with one wire going to it

Check fuel pressure. Sounds like a bad pump or plugged fuel filter.
