2001 Dodge Durango-Just purchased, previous owner had to replace drivers side door. Now the dome light won't go off unless I shut it completely off with the dimmer/on/off on the dash which dims my dash lights with the headlights on. There is no button switch in door frame, as in the older models. Is the switch inside the door panel? How do I adjust also? Thank you.

Switch is inside the door. by the lock mechanism ( door latch) If you remove door panel you should be able to reach wire it runs outside the door. Interior lights ground threw that wire so it is ether grounded or the switch is bad

Shut the hood, make sure the back hatch is shut tight. Lock all the doors. Walk around and make sure they locked. Open the drivers door with the key. This should clear the security. If not lock it again and try the passenger side door. Reach in and unlock the drivers door. If it cleared then. Replace the drivers door latch on the back side. Inside the door.

2005 Dodge Durango interior dome lights will not shut off

One of the switches on the doors or tailgate are broken. Look at the switches (located on the door or the door pillars) and see if one of them has been broken or stuck. This switch turns lights off when depressed.

2005 Dodge Durango interior dome lights will not shut off

Check all the door switches. See if they are ok. If they are ok it could be the PCM and that is the computer that controls the interior electronics. IT is not cheap.

take it to a dealer. you need a CCN (cabin compartment node) also known as a instrument cluster, it controls you dome lights. good news they had a recall on the durangos for this problem and even if the recall was done it should still be covered assuming im right about the cause... (i work at a dodge dealer and i have seen it a few times)
