It can only be done using the key fob. Othersise use button inside the car. If your battery is flat you need a donor battery wiring to a connection in the fuse box (positive) anf door lock(negative) but see your hand book.
SOURCE: Compurter says PSM and ABS failure
Hi,
Just had same problem this morning. I had noticed that the satnav was malfunctioning (i.e. developed a mind of its own!!) a couple of days ago and then this morning PSM/ABS failure......marvellous!! Anyway, simply disconnected battery, waited 10-15 mins, reconnected battery and hey presto my boxster fired up. However the PSM failure message still showed, so took it for a spin around the block and the message disappeared and, touch wood, everything seems back to normal. I think it must have been a battery problem, so just to safe I am going to get a new battery and hopefully I can look forward to years of trouble free motoring.....one day with the roof down!!!! (Where has the sunshine gone!!!????)

To close the top, the parking brake must be engaged and the ignition in the ON position. Assuming that these conditions are met, you can close the top manually if needed. The procedure involves (1) removing key, (2) removing convertible top link covers, (3) gently prying conv top lid links on both side, (4) lifting the conv top lid to open position, (5) gently prying the red links off, and (6) finally manually lifting the top to the closed position.
Before taking such measures, if you do not hear the motors, check the B6 and D3 relays. You might also want to check the microswitch on the top/center windshield frame.

I've also got the brake-light problem. I think it's something funny with the electronic control unit, as the top is refusing to move and the gear selector is locked now too... Weirdness
