Is the check engine light on? If so it may be on because of a bad o2 sensor, bad o2 sensors send signals to the ecu which adjust fuel mix to the injectors. If its not a o2 sensor you may need a new computer they can malfuntion also. There's many sensors and models that control fuel delivery. The ones i've mentioned could be the likely source.

Lexus ls 400 misfire on 1 3 5 7 cylinders

Sounds like a bad coil. i would swap the coils to run 2,4,6,and 8 and see if those started to misfire. If 1,3,5,7 still misfire I would do a compression test. Has the timing belt been replaced yet.

1995 LS 400: RANDOM/CYLINDER MISFIRE, CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR , ECM I have a 1995 LS 400 that is misfiring and check engine light on. Mechanic read code and found P0300 Random Misfire, P0305 Cylinder...

Up to this point in time, mechanic 1 has only done some maintenance work on the car. Things that would be done from time to time to maintain the car.
Since you have lost trust in this mechanic, I would go to a different place and have them diagnose the codes. If the second place gives you the same recommendation you can decide what to do.
You can tell the second place you are getting a second opinion, or not.

If the ecm didn't fix it, I would have your ignition system checked, could be a bad ICM or a bad coil maybe. If you haven't already checked the spark plugs and spark plug wires. Did you have the ECM programmed for your car?
