If the trans is original,13 years old, Iam
pretty sure your looking at a rebuild

You can have a trans shop address your concerns
and questions, but I doubt your going to resolve
noises and hard shifts with a sensor or two

You want to check the motor and trans axle mounts,
drive axles,etc also

Sounds like a trans mount when they go bad it causes all kinds of shakes , have someone put in gear ,open hood,, watch motor. tell them to hold brake and give it a little gas .Don;t stand in front of car .....see if motor raises up if so replace all mounts motor included. this is a common fix on theses cars.

Will a 94 park ave transmission be used on a 91 park ave

A 1994 Transmission is not interchangeable, but you can use a transmission out of a 1991-2 Buick Lesabre or Olds 98. These are just a couple I know of, but your local junkyard will look up other interchangeable transmissions for you. Hope this helps.

Where is the torque converter sensor located on the transmission?

Eric, The TTC Torque Converter Solenoid is located behind the side cover which has to be removed to access. I will post links for you.

It should be under the shift lever on the side of the transmission.
You would remove the lever.

1994 buick park ave.

I doubt it has anything to do with the transmission.
When the brake pads wear most have a wear sensor that drags along the rotor.
Have you pulled the wheels and checked the brake pads ?

94 buick park ave runs great but with a light load it shakes, accelerates good and in park or neutral is smooth changed plugs and wires

Several possibilities having to do with the torque converter clutch and TCC solenoid:

1. Replace transmission fluid, use a synthetic Dex VI, do a complete flush with pan removal and filter replacement

2. Check all grounds related to the transmission control solenoids, clean them and ensure good electrical contact.

3. Rebuild transmission, the TCC friction material is worn out.

Speedo stops, stays in first gear

Sounds like something internal in the trans. It will be an electrical issue, not mechanical. Only way to tell is to hook it to a machine.
