I have a 1999 Nissan Sentra GXE, I noticed that everytime when my fan cuts off after cooling the car it makes a loud noise. My car is driveable but when the fan cuts on its fine but when it cuts off it makes that loud noise and i am not running my air conditioner at all. Would you have any idea what that could be?

It could be a broken Oil Pump, Is there oil in the engine or when you hit the pothole you could have hit the Exhaust Pipe and broke the pipe causing a Exhaust Leak.

It may be the thermo fans that are on the car.They cut in and out especially if the air/con is on.The car will have a belt driven fan but the electric thermo fan,will cut in and out as it is needed creating a highspeed fan noise.Hope this is the problem and helps you.
a noise in the engine is not a good news but you have 70% chance that you engine crank shaft and parts arround it are bad. in some case if your car is auttomatic ,a crack in the flight weell may cause the "knocking sound " please ck you fly w before you make decisions .if you engine is bad ..,, change it .it will cost you more to try to fix it
