My car, a 1999 300 M, when it sits for a couple of days wont start on the first try..it will click ...sometimes but you have to keep turning the key on over and over.. some thimes it takes longer to start than others this has been going on for a couple of years.. I hear no spinning noise. sometimes its completely dead.. I thought it was battery issues at first I have power to windoes and all but I changed out the battery out anyway, and it still does it from time to time ..It is getting a lot more frequent now. BUt once it is started I dont have any more problems until it sits again for a day or two without starting it. I saw where there have been ignition issues could this be the problem ? or is it truley my starter going bad very slowley?

Yes, you have dead spots an the starter commutator. The way to tell is this: the next time it happens, get a hammer and hit the starter dead on the side. If it then starts, replace the starter.

Try cleaning battery cables, especially at battery end. They're exposed to grease and grime and that forms resistance. When you hit key multiple times, that heats up cables, they expand and make better contact & it starts. Clean or replace your battery cables.
