You may have a defective line on the right front brake. GM had a batch of bad lines installed on several year models. I had one collapse on mine with the caliper closed and burned my caliper, rotor and pads. Try to disconnect the metal line further back at the equalizer and see if you get fluid there. If you do replace line.

My friend has a 2003 GMC Envoy and we replaced the wheel bearings and noticed the brake pads needed to be replaced after replacing the pads the front driver side wheel is getting very hot.

Pretty decent exchange ... so far!

"Shimming" is between the hub and the rotor
to re-center the worn rotor. I have found "shims"
to be every bit as expensive and labor intensive

Discussing SHIMs further lends them respectability.
They ARE NOT the proximate cause of your
immediate trouble... Nor would be your rotors

Just to PROVOKE thoughts a little further...

2002 gmc envoy leaking out back by rear tire on passenger side

If brake fluid, have to check caliper/caliper brake line or check brake wheel cylinder, where applicable.
Where applicable, if rear end oil, have to check seal and axle bearing.

Front brakes on 2005 GMC canyon are locked up what could it be

If the frt brakes are locked up then it could be any of the following, master cylinder is bad, frt brake lines are at fault the flexible rubber part that goes to the calipers, or the calipers themselves could be frozen and are not able to release when you let off the brake pedal.

2005 gmc envoy front pads won't release put on 2 new calipers,2 brake hoses,2 new rotors&pads.I forgot, put on new Master cylinder.changed calipers twice thought they might be defective.

On a 2005 vehicle-- at most-- you may need
new rotors & pads, that is all

I'm lost at that story

Don't really grasp what your doing
or what you got yourself into

Driving on interstate. Noticed shimmy. Suddenly got worse. Felt like a flat. No flat. Noticed front wheel smoke from brakes. Had been smelling brakes right before. Can't see visible problem in brakes.

It sounds like you have a bad brake problem. smoke from the frt brakes is bad! the following are the things to check and repair.
(1) front brake calipers may be frozen
(2)caliper (rubber lines may be collapsed)
(3) hard lines may have damage?
(4) master cylinder may not be releasing fluid
(5) front calipers may have bolts loose and\or missing

How do I get the rotors off the front of a 2004 Envoy 4WD?

You have to take the wheel bearing nut off the axle and pull the bearings with it.

Rear passenger brake dosen't work

Are there two brake fluid reservoirs? And are both full? This would be a split-diagonal brake system-front driver and rear passenger are one brake system. Front passenger and rear driver are the other system. You have the one system working-the front passenger and rear driver side works. You will have to keep bleeding the rear passenger side and the front driver side-always start farthest from the master cylinder, but if that wheel just won't bleed air out, make sure the driver front is working and bleeds good. If all else fails, there are pressure bleeder kits available, I don't know the cost, but they work great. They are also a one man bleeding job, as I understand.

1999 chevy suburban right front caliper will not release . Put on new caliper. Have to open bleeder to get piston to go back in. Brake pedal is hard and brakeing is poor

The flexible "rubber" line that goes to the caliper has an internal ply seperation and will not allow the fluid to flow properly.
Please vote if this helps you.
I am sure it will.

is the brake pedal soft or go to the floor? you could have a rusted out or pinched metal brake line, or the rubber brake hose could be clogged, you must trace the hose and metal line back to the master and look for leaks or rust, then unscrew the line from the master and make sure you get fluid there while depressing the pedal, and just keep disconnecting down the line until you get fluid to the caliper be sure your bleeder screw is not just clogged with rust remove it all the way and depress the pedal to see if you have fluid there please rate -jeff
