Re: A/c not working and the compressor is not lcoked up....
This could be caused by 2 things
1 is the compressor is bad or 2 the a/c needs the be recharged
this is not uncommon for 1992 jeeps the compressor goes bad in all cars and the a/c should be recharged every 2 yrs
hope this helps you out have a good day :)
not blowing cold air but it blowes on all speeds but the compressor does not engage
I have had a continuing problem with my AC on 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Was recharging it for a while and it cooled fine for a period of time. The compressor kept recycling almost constandtly. Eventually, however, I was told the compressor was bad and had it replaced along with a number of other parts. and it seemed to work fine again for a while. But ultimately it did'nt cool properly again. The shop replaced the compressor at no charge, but tthe same problem persists. It does not cool very well and the compressor seems to go on and off on a regular basis. Also, it seems to cool better when it is idleing? Any ideas?
Just bought a 1998 Grand Cherokee 4.0 automatic knowing the a/c didn't work. The compressor cycled on and off every 2-3 seconds. I tried to charge it myself with the cans of R-134a thinking that if this $20 investment got me some cold air for the rest of the summer it was worth while. As soon as I attached the first can, the compressor stopped cycling altogether and does not kick back in at all now and the air still blows warm. The system did take in the majority of the first can but to my knowledge, the system must continue to cycle in order for the system to charge properly. I can still turn the clutch on the front of the compressor by hand so I know it is not frozen up. Any suggestions?
